I just came across this post from last year. It has been over a year since Karen got her transplant. She is doing very well. It has been a rough road for her. She is such a blessing to those around her. I am very happy for her and wanted to share with others. Thanks, Dee
Hey there! Thanks so much! Karen is doing well. Still recovering though she pushes herself a bit now and then but doing really well. I am so happy for her. She is still writing her articles on ihelpc, just wrote a really good one.
Thanks again,
Dee
Yeah!!!! A new liver and you're doing well! Made my day to hear this. Just popping in after someone sent me a note. Haven't been here in a long time and thrilled to to hear this news. Such sweet news Karen. Makes me smile. Hope everyone is doing well and those txing are kicking butt with the new meds.
Why does what she's going through sound so familiar? The worst is over. Recovery is what brought peace of mind to me, although there was still that damned ascites. It's been a year and a half almost to the day since my transplant and I feel great with absolutely no complications, and so will you Karen. Hoping for the very best for you. Hang in there and in a few months, you'll be back to normal and smiling a lot...

So much love to you all.. Dee is still helping with my website. She is a true angel and shows great compassion to all our readers. I'm still doing well.
Totally off of steroids and bopping around here looking for info on getting rid of more of the drugs. Ever the eager beaver...
xoxo Karen:)
This is where I first started that signature and still use it every time I write.
Dee~ How good of you to post this.
Karen~Two miles after 16 days ? You are doing great and will continue to do so. I thought I bounced back quick but girl, you got me beat !
Congrats on your new liver and best wishes towards continued good health.
Karen ..... it is great to hear from you and it is wonderful that you are doing so well. If anyone can succeed at this, it is certainly you.
Wow, 2 miles already today and only 16 days from transplant. That is fantastic.
Yes, we had some "interesting" times (an understatement, to say the least, LOL) during triple med treatment, but we attained SVR and that is what matters.
Keep us posted.
Wishing you the very best in the coming months and years. : )
I have been reading your blog. Wishing you nothing but the very very best.
Your smile is radiating and gives many hope. Your blog is an amazing story of health, determination and success from the workings of a positive mind.
Best to you
Karen you are so strong. Congratulations your an inspiration.
You walked 2 miles, your unreal girl!! You have a lot to look forward to.
Enjoy your new life!
Kitty
You go, Girl!!
Amazing to have been through and to still be so upBeat, and fighting. Of course, that attitude is WHY you are going so well!
I wish you wonderful healing, and a world of Blessings!!!
Pat
Oh my sweethearts! Gosh Pooh and Can do and Magnum. We've certainly been together in this journey a long time. You are all my homies from treatment days. What a mess we were on those first protease inhibitors. Haha. It's a miracle that we're all here together.
Dee and I have stayed close. When the tumor came back and it got close to transplant I worried about the blog. Her tender heart and sweet words are encouraging my readers. We still direct traffic back here for those who need a personal connection because of our bonds with you all. She's my angel friend.
Thank you so much for the prayers and love to my new friends on here too. This is my home base! It's really where my desire to write was born. Right on my journal here at Medhelp.
I'm 16 days out and walked 2 miles today. I'm still a fighter and trained hard for the transplant. Never say quit...
Love and hugs,
xo Karen:)
Oh, I meant to say that Karen has a blog of her story and she also helps many with diet and descriptions of everything from HCV, to treating, to treating cancer, esophageal banding, cirrhosis, diet, etc.
It is huge
Ihelpc is her blog
Oh Pooh!!! Thank you so much for posting. I know that Karen will appreciate so very much.
She did go through hell when we all did back during the rash of Incivek, Victrellis gang.
Gosh, she didn't even know she had HCV until her liver started to fail. I remember when she started vomiting blood and had to have 5 bandings done.
She is a true inspiration to me and others in the community.
Thanks so much!
Patra, thank you!!! Bless you for your prayers. I truly believe that all of the prayers from here and from Karen's blog and FB really helped her so much.
Bless all of you, you are family!!
Thank you so much for the prayers and words of encouragement. I know that she will be happy to see all of this when she can log in.
It is heartwarming to see everyone posting.
Thank all of you!!
Dee
I am sorry I am so late to comment but I somehow missed this post.
Dee, thanks so much for posting about Karen's surgery and for keeping us updated on her progress.
Karen is the sweetest, yet most resilient, person. She is a real fighter. She went through hell on triple med treatment, almost died a couple of times with the esophageal varices bleeds, but she stuck with treatment and attained SVR. She is an inspiration to all of us.
I am sending her my best wishes for a rapid recovery from surgery and a long and happy life.
Great surgeons and staff and all those prayers, how could she not?
Karen: You go, Girl! We have a friend who had a liver transplant 20 years ago, back before they knew what they know now, and he is doing well, active, sings in a group (yes, he could sing before the surgery - lol) and all. Just wanting you to see that there will be a full life AFTER transplant - even though he takes meds daily!
Continued prayers and blessings?
Pat
Hi there, thank you all so much! Like Carl said, we are family and it shows.
Karen is doing well. Still in a pain but getting better, it has only been a little over two weeks. She was in the OR from 8 to 3 so it was a long surgery.
Some people are still in the hospital at this point. She was released on the 6th day after surgery. She is doing well.
Thank you all so much
Dee
Thanks so much for the update. Continued good wishes for Karen.
Hey there, thank you so much! Karen is doing really well, she came home 6 days after the transplant which worried me but the doctor says she is doing very well. She has to take so many pills a day (70) it makes tx look like nothing. The cancer in her liver had not spread so that is really good news.
Sorry I am just now updating,
Dee
Sorry that it took me so long to see this post but I will keep Karen in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery. She is an amazing person who has helped so many through their struggles.
Dee
Such good news for Karen. Keeping her in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
Peace
Deb
You guys are just awesome! Thank you all so much for your prayers and good wishes. I know that it will bring tears to Karen's eyes when she gets home and can read all of this.
She has such a good attitude, I can barely believe it.
She shares so much of herself to help others with HCV, cirrhosis, and cancer. Now she will become a very good advocate for liver transplants.
We are very grateful to the donors and their families as well.
Bless you all my friends :)
Dee
Thank you Dee for the updates, your about as sweet as they come.
Candyman...:)
