Hey my lady friend - glad your holiday is going well - I am making up for lost time and have had 3 parties so far (tons of family and friends) Had a sit down for 20 in my house last night with the china etc. And all of us on one long winding table - cooked a huge dual lasagnia - great fun...so nice to be feeling better finally. Just hope it's not just the new drug (consorta) but I'll take it what ever it is!
Happy New Year!!!!
Thanks Gator, hope your yr. brings SVR!
I never know who's coming over & spent the 2 nights before Xmas shopping & wrapping until 5-6 AM for extra people, everyone HAS to have something under the tree, I couldn't imagine not or being alone on Christmas :(
I got a text this AM .....
'thanks 4 making Xmas so special for us' from a mother less girl (has one, just a whacko, lets say!) & her baby. I sent back that having them made it special for me, which it does. They had no tree, let alone much gifts this year & would have been home alone. They spent Xmas eve & Xmas night here! Her baby's 1st Xmas...how sad would that have been home alone!
My parents, family always has the Christmas where u have to have matching vegtables, BE ON TIME, don't dare bring extra people (seating u know!!) & blah, blah. While I love them, that Christmas *****! (I'll never forget dragging in a bad a*s looking biker guy & my step mom running to hide her jewelry, LOL!) I stopped that long ago, too many I had needing a tree & a dinner!
A few yrs. ago I was at a local hangout, days of going out for a drink before I knew I wasn't supposed to drink at all, lol......& I invited some of the ol' guys, that were always on the same bar stool for yrs. A man & wife came (this man, while a bad alcoholic, has his place in heaven for taking such good care of a woman few would have while so sick, messed up!) & it was so funny/heart warming as he's in the den watching old Xmas shows, Perry Como type, by the tree. We'd try to change the channel & he'd say 'NO! I haven't had a Xmas in 20 yrs, let alone watched a Xmas show". (laughing) The guy was not giving up the remote! His wife died that yr., it was their last Xmas & he'd said they hadn't had a family Xmas in many yrs., she was mentally sick as well. Few would have had these people over, and that is wrong :(
My girlfriend that passed away, her sons are now mine & come too. This IS what it's all about. I am a very blessed person, the world gives me a lot, I have to give it back. My sons....they go all out to make anyone feel special here too. They've given up some of their own stuff to be sure everyone has something. Very proud of them, good souls, despite some of the dumb things they do, LOL! They took my best friends sons under their arm when she died, only 16 & 18 and didn't know them that well then. One now works with them & my sons include them in EVERYTHING! I just love them for that, for her. I think Xmas has become commercialized enough & many need to take a step back & remember what it's all about.
(start with my step mom :)
Just some good thoughts, thought I'd share that for any bah hum buggers ;)
Happy New Year ahead all!
Merry Christmas...I know you are enjoying the new member to your family this year...Just wait till next year, she will be up and into everything.

Merry Christmas LL. Hope you are riding high (but not literally). Have a Happy New Year.

Thanks all.
Izzy...that was sweet! My house is 'open house' to all on holidays. No pressure, no be on time, all welcome and NEVER any drama! Mother-less, family-less and some who steer clear on their own families end up here. It keeps Christmas to what it is all about.
Jd...yes! We really do have to follow thru on that! On both sides! ;) Life has gotten TOO busy!
Susan...so glad you seem to have cheered up, I know the past yrs. disappointments really got to you. Hoping this year will be better.
