We'll, good news, I'm SVR

The Hep C nurse rang to tell me I am SVR on Monday. Obviously, I am very happy about it - people at my work were as well (they are aware of my condition - look at my bio if you are interested). So, Monday was an emotional day, and Tuesday just a regular busy one.

I feel very well. The last few weeks I have been a bit emotionally distracted with this blood test coming up, but now I can move on. I still think a lot about treatment, more so than the incident that lead to my infection (see my bio). Treatment can be a long road, I guess it is always a long road, and it makes me a bit sad to think of people out their being treated today. In saying that, for me, treatment has been more than worth it. Aside from a little nerve damage in my fingers (which I don't know was treatment related or not), and a minor hernia (not treatment related, although I think it might have contributed to it coming up now), I seem to be in perfect health, able to run, and a bit of weight training. If anything, I may be a little healthier than before treatment, in that my net weight loss is about 25 pounds (lost 50 on treatment, regained 25 since).

Most of all though, I feel a sense of accomplishment. If I can get through that, I can get through anything. Lots to look forward to, I hope there is a lot for you to look forward to as well, whatever your status re Hep C.

Thanks I-horn. I had my first beer in 2 years on Monday. It was nice (although not as good as I remember - funny that). My nurse tells me, the general rule of thumb is keeping it to 1 drink a day (and no "banking" drinks for a bender). Actually, she said I can probably go back to normal drinking wise given how soon I was treated after infection, but I think the 1 drink thing may be a good philosophy anyway. I sort of care a lot about my liver now:-)

It's why I posted it, I really enjoyed reading the SVR threads before treating, and during treating. There is hope for everyone I think, be it this treatment or a future one.

Way to go man!!!! That is awesome and I hope to be able to say the same some day. The only part that concerns me is you said the beer was not as good as you rembered. I hope that does not happen to me. I love Beer (real beer) and I am hoping to one day sit back and sip a nice Belgian Ale, Heffe Weisen, or something of the like.

Again congrats!!! great news!!!

The hunter is successful and brings home the biggest prize of all, SVR!  Your feeling of accomplishment is well-deserved.  (I always sorta wondered what kind of animal a 'moa' was... and just substituted the 'moa' with 'hcv' in my own mind!)  Your beast has been vanquished!

My most heartfelt congratulations.  Thanks so much for sharing the good news!
All my best,
~eureka

-------

How big are these nurses thumbs ? I go in for my 1 year on the 3rd and I've pretty much paid no mind to any rules of thumb although I don't drink anywhere near what I did before I don't really pay it any mind. If I go out with friends or to a game if I want a beer I drink it. If I want 10 beers I drink them. Alcohol doesn't cause HCV. End of story.
