Julie
LMAO!!
My first love was with Crime of the Century...
I find talking about death a bit much for me to swallow while on these meds *dip*
Ever have the situation in which someone close to you gives you a gift that the giver admires greatly, but you don't think is all that special? Further, this person is important to you and you don't want to hurt the person's feelings by not prominently displaying the grotesque artifact that he thinks is so wonderful. Now, think about the corpse painting you would leave behind to a loved one. Never-ever able to discard this 'work of art' they would forever have to account for it, even beyond their own demise. Why would you do that to anyone? Or, you run the risk of ending up in Goodwill with a fifty cent price tag. You're dead, what do you care? These long days in Alaska give you too much time to think about such things. Take up suduku
Thank you. Way too much time is all I can think of too. Mike
I thought this was supposed to be the 'social' side of forum where people are free to post whatever they want?
Why denigrate someone else's persepctive?
Too much time for what?????
Thinking? Or maybe thinking about stuff someone finds unconfortable, or, worse yet, is contrary to someone else's world view?
As for the comment, "You're dead, what do you care?"
That's close to what a certain president said in response to a 2004 question about how he thought history would perceive his decisions.
"What difference does it make?" he said. "We'll all be dead."
Meki,
I enjoyed your post.
Don't know if I wanna do the ash painting but it sure was interesting.

I am 100% female and totally agree with MIke and FL, but then again - I am a *dip* lol
this thread exemplifies some of the differences between men and women, to a degree anyway...(maybe going out on a limb here) and I'm speaking generally of course...
I remember riding all the way to another state..... the lone passenger in the back seat of a car driven by a newly married couple...(someone remind me not to that again! lol) They were "working out" some of their differences and viewpoints, blithely unaware or not caring of my presence for the most part ..
The guy mostly wanted her to get to the *point* of the matter (of whatever they were discussing) where the woman wanted to give a lot of the whys and wherefores....and spoke in a much more circular fashion....
Sometimes she merely just wanted to speculate on things, or give us some *musings* of hers, about whatever...which sometimes seemed to annoy the husband....
Of course, the wife would sometimes seem to be annoyed when the husband would answer questions with either a curt "yes", or "no", without feeling any need to elaborate on matters...or he would come up with solutions to things that weren't necessarily asked for, much to his confusion...
I think as much as we love and care for our husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, etc etc...there's probably a good reason why guys have pals to talk to now and then, and women have girlfriends, lol...just a few of my musings....
I want to be a Mummy in the Smithsonian
From your pic i would have thought you'd wanna be buried with your bike. *LOL*

remember a long time ago when I first started posting on forum and got inadvertently caught in a controversy that i didn't even know existed?
After 8 months, i now understand much more why the battle occurred and why you fought so hard.

I find it interesting that the subject of death is taboo in our society. I've avoided bringing it up here because of how emotional the meds make people. I'm sorry everyone is so frightened of something that is part of the cycle of life. I'm not afraid of dying.Though I think its natural to strive to survive.
I had a dream once that there was a big noise, a flash, and I was flying towards the light, knowing I was dying. I told my husband, "I'll catch you around next time", and I woke up. I was going to paint the dream. I knew how and could envsion it in oils.
I'd be happy to have my body decompose and renew the earth. The body is the form which I will leave behind when it dies. I will simply fly back form where I came, to the light. OH
Yeah - but mike and FLguy --- You KNOW you'd wear me as a diamond -- -now wouldn't ya? Earring or Tie Tac... Or a really cool Manly ring.
LOL!
Nah --- it's cool - not everyone can deal with it the same way... And yeah ---- some folks have gone """""OOOOOOHHH YUCK"""""
But --- I think it's kind of a cherish able thing...
The painting tho --- I'd really want a GOOD artist to do it --- and I certainly wouldn't want to be a portrait... who'd wanna see my ugly mug out there on their wall - Hell I wouldn't even pay 50 cents at Goodwill for it. LOL!
Maybe a really good outdoors scene ---- or even a fantastic city scape...
Or post modern....
But the diamond --- that's just tooo cool... At least I think....
I mean - heck -- I am going to die some day --- right?
LOL!
Might as well go out with some glitter.
And it's totally cool youse guys have a differing opinion... Heck if we all thought alike we'd live in Stepford.
PSP - Hugs hun! It's ok... I understand...
Hugs,
Meki
You guys --- no worries.
People can have differing opinions - that's totally cool..
Although - I don't do Soduku.... Too freaking hard for my ADHD brain. OK - maybe not too hard...But certainly there's a chicken crossing the road while I'm doing it and my attention is distracted by the second column. LOL!
A lot of people view death and dying differently -- and that's awesome.
I honestly meant to give you guys some sort of insight into the way I was thinking --- and definitely did not mean to make others feel offensive or defensive.
I try to handle everything I do with a smile and sometimes I'm a little off the wall ---- so if I hurt anyone's feelings --- or made them uncomfortable... I am truly sorry.... That was never my intention.
I am a happy-go-lucky person ---- so please know that my intention was not to make people sad or upset.
More to give them a personal glimpse --- maybe an idea... and to uplift a dreary, sad topic that is probably on everyone's mind at some point in time.
Hugs to everyone,
Meki (contritely)
hey, no worries! I'll go out on a limb and say that prob no one is mad, once again, I'll mention that we don't have the benefit of body language and voice inflection, so sometimes things might come off sounding more intense then was meant by the poster.....and no one on this thread is unreasonable, I think we all just view things differently at times, and of course that's bound to happen with a bunch of different personalities...but I personally think this board is infinitely more civilized then it was long ago now, where some people were actually wishing each other dead (no kidding) more then a few times......don't want to speak for anybody, but my take is it's all alright, we hashed it out, next subject, ha ha! or the same subject, whatever! lol
Phew... and I thought I was going to get speared... *sniffle* (long wipe of nose on sleeve =LOL!)
People really wished others dead?
Wow - I figure I have had enough problems just staying alive to worry about wishing others dead. That's kind of sad.
Well - I'm certainly glad the board is more civilized... I am so glad I never saw that type of online brutality.
To me - each person brings something unique to the forums --- to enlighten, laugh, learn or teach... Or just to share... and to listen and be heard.
By the way --- I'm usually laughing --- here and at home in front of the computer... Life is too short to worry about everything...
Meki
Sorry, I guess I meant Salvation Army. But, like Bob Barker says.....

Forsee --- That hippo just walked into the house...
A friend of mine had a pygmy pig (that turned out to be NOT a pygmy pig) and it was as smart as you or I.... (I'm not kidding... it could turn on the television - it could change channels - I have no idea if it really watched tv -- but every once in awhile it seemed to be paying attention to the thing.... LOL!)
It would walk with her to the bar --- it would do all sorts of things.
Wonder if Jessica can too?
Meki
FL --- I kinda figured that. LOL!
It's all good...
OMG --- FL --- how freaking funny!
Oh - what a story!
But you're safe --- I don't collect turtles -- I collect Dragons.(very nice sculptures, Chinese, Oriental, American, European and Medieval.)
So don't be buyin' Dragon Cookie Jars that have glued on lids....LOL!
By the way, my first post in this thread does not convey the jest with which it was written.
I still wanna be a shining, sparkly, beautiful diamond.
