I have 3a too and am only treating for 24 weeks. I was UND at four weeks and to be honest I was scared to start treatment. I took the plunge and have completed the first three months of treatment and I have ABSOLUTELY no side effects at all. I mean none, I actually feel better than when I first started. With that being said I am the minority around here. Treatment seems to impact most others lives in a negative way I however have been extremely lucky. Just look at the long term goal if you do decide to do treatment which is you being a 3a have a high success rate and can probably clear the virus fairly easily plus you will be around a lot longer for your family to enjoy you! Good luck and I hope everything turns out ok for you.

well, first of all I consider you lucky that you have geno3 coz its normal treatment duration is short (24 weeks) as compared with Geno1,4 (48 weeks) , moreover the SVR (considered as sucess of treatment) rate is also better than Geno 1 & 4.

I was also Geno 3 and this genotype is considered easier to treat and response rate is also better

The standard treatment available is Peg Interferone injections (once a week) or simple interferone inj (3 in a week) + Riba tablets (daily), howver, there are some newly developed drugs for this but these are under trial phases.

Your doctor/liver specialist is the one to decide whether you should go for tratment right now or should wait depending upon a lot of factors including your age, health condition, demage to the liver, etc etc.

I would advise you, do not take fear and just discuss with doc each and every thing, symptom feellings etc
