I've had those tracking skills ever since I can remember. Meki posted a while ago and we were discussing, if it could be HCV related.
I live on the 1st floor and can smell someone passing on the street smoking a cigarette, when the window is open. I've learned to live with this nose...
BUT I really hope it's not going to get worse on tx....
Marcia
Mine was a tx related. I would open the windows, turn all the ceiling fans on, and blamed my wife’s Yorkie. No one could smell anything but me. This lasted until about 3 weeks after tx., then started tapering off. It has been almost 3-months now and it is almost back to normal.
I don't think my sense of smell has gotten better but I get nauseated pretty easily. What I worry about is that I have been sweating a lot at work lately. I get short of breath from the anemia and what was once easy for me is now a great effort. My job is very physical and when I work with a patient I like to give it my all. My concern is that I smell. I feel like I am toxic and chemicals must be coming through my skin? Probably having something to do with the rash. My daughter told me once that I smelled after a shower. I am getting a little paranoid that people can notice that I am struggling. I do have a low tolerance for uncomfortable situations now. Like if it is hot or stuffy and I feel like I can't breath.
it can be nauseaing... i feel you... i think the meds probably do have a negative on body chemistry ...because sometime i will get a overbearing toxic feeling....but its the nasty taste in my mouth that freaks me out its horrible.....
I had a lot of olfactory hallucinations after I started treatment. I kept thinking our house was burning down. It drove my son nuts, because I would make him search the house looking to make sure there was nothing smoldering anywhere, inside or out. Also, sometimes it did just seems as though my nose was extra sensitive. Now I'm four or five months post tx and my funnys smells (and tastes) seem to have gone asway.
It takes months after you start but eventually it does subside. All I know is I almost went insane from it until it did.......yuck, I can remember just how horrible an experience it was!
I am like Marcia in that I have always had this sense of smell. I smell everything! Walking in crowds can be trying at best. My daughter has to remind me sometimes to resist the urge to cover my nose.
So, I can't offer advise, only let you know you are not alone. People are stinky :-)
...because everybody aint is kind to your nose as you ---Couldn't have said it any better!!!
