how did I contract Hep C

I am 49 years old and have just tested positive for hepitis c antibody. We are awaiting the results of the next test determining how far along it has progressed even though I have no other physical signs.
I have lived a clean life never did drugs, drank in excess, had a blood transfusion or not been on a monogamous relationship ....until I found out that the man I had been involved with was not thus promting tests for stds.We are currently awaitng his test results.
I am told that sex has a low percntage rate of infection but we need to wait for his results.
I have had 2 c section years ago ,breast augmentation 2 years ago and 3 epidural  blocks for pain management for neck injuries caused from a vechicle accident in 2004. Could my health care providers have been infected and passed it on to me without realizing it?
I have a dear friend of many years that contracted it through blood transfusions many years ago and has been thru treatments without positive results and is currently in stage 3 .
I know I am rushing forward without my latest test results or his but I am perplexed as to how I arrived here without the usual paths if sexual contact is an extremtly small chance of contraction....

hi there,
I also am trying to figure out how the heck I got the darn thing....it makes me sooo mad..that I wasn't careful enough or something....but I also went to a dirty dental office,,,of course i stopped going..after they allready gave me needles, and a root canal......it took me 2 visits to notice the dirtiness...and there are a few other ways I thought I may have gotten it...I have had sooooo much dental work done over the past years...also have had soooo many blood tests for various things...it is a aggravating thing...I have had a bunch of minor surgeries too..I feel like I was a sitting duck...and didn't know... well just know you are not alone.  and as others have said to me ...the important thing is to take care of yourself now...you may never know where it came from.

How old are your kids? It took me 20 years to find out I had it. The c-sections are suspect.

A friend of mine got her hepatitis from a dentist (so did her brother, same dentist).  Also you can get it from tatoos, from hair dressers (especially when doing manicures and them not sterilizing implements from customer to customer). Remember it is spread from blood to blood.  HCV lives outside the body for a few days. If an infected person's blood gets into your open cut you can get it. It's pretty hard to get it from someone's nosebleed. I had a blood transfusion.
