I am glad you reached UND but concerned about the detectible virus at 12 weeks. Since you are geno 3 with detectible virus at 12, have you discussed treating for 48 weeks?
And like NY said, there are an awful lot of us here that got our hep C by way of drugs. It is just the way it was back then. Karma sux doesn't it. Well, we did have some good times, didn't we?
frijole
Thanks a lot folks SVR to us all

Rangle,
Don't sweat it I'm a member of the Wicked Wicked Wicked Wicked ways club myself. There are lots of us in here as you'd imagine. But, we gotta do what we gotta do now.
Are you considering extending to 72 weeks? I don't remember what geno you are though...all those wicked ways have sort of tired out my brain and treatment didn't help it at all (although I was never really a rocket scientist now i'm REALLY kind of "the dumb blonde) ;)
I'm really happy about your UND!
Debby
Right.. 16 weeks...I knew that and yet somehow my mind computed it into 4 weeks. Strange. Just the same, congrats on the UND and good luck ongoing.
Trish
I can't believe that I never even congratulated you, Congratulations!!! You Go Big Guy. Hugs to you, Ant B
Congratulations on UND. Hopefully everything will go great for you and you will reach SVR.
Good Luck,
Lynn
I got it on the ALT, that helps put my mind at ease.
Thanks
Rangle
Second sentence should have read: "So ALT 200 is not twice as bad as let's say ALT 100.
Congratulations on the UND. The Peg itself can cause elevated enzymes in some, but it should not interfere with SVR. You should also know that liver enzymes don't move in a linear fashion. So ALT is not twice as bad as let's say ALT 100. Just a bit more. Still, your medical team should closely monitor them as I'm sure they are. You'll probably see the enzymes return to normal fairly soon after your off the treatment drugs.
All the best,
-- Jim
wassup: thanks for the support..it's us against them, I have a lot of faith we'll land on our feet inspite of our Wicked Wicked ways....I had a lot of fun lol, laughter is the music of the sole!
CS: That's a big help thanks
sldb:This is really a Bizarre illness & an even more Bizarre treatment, thanks hope your well now
Trish:That was a 16 week result....thanks
FLguy/child: Thanks for thee heads up you folks have been there done this...you folks Rock
All the best Rangle
There was not a day in either of my tx's that alt/ast were within normal range - always elevated. Put them out of your head. The only focus should be the meds, sticking to the schedule and paying attention to the ONLY significant number....zero.
Congrats on your excellent 4 week results. I hope you're handling treatment well enough and hoping for that SVR outcome for you that we're all after. This is a great start!
Trish
Did 96 wks of tx alt and ast did not normalize til last month of tx. DR could not understand it,alt and ast have been normal for 18 mths post tx.
Quote "I'm still concerned about the enzymes
ALT's are 208
AST's are 110
It's still a mystery to my doctors why? "
The following comes from the Pegasys Product Information Sheet
www.rocheusa.com/products/pegasys/pi.pdf
In chronic hepatitis C, transient elevations in ALT (2-fold to 5-fold above baseline) were observered in some patients receiving PEGASYS, and were not associated with deterioration of other liver function tests.
When the increase in ALT levels is progressive despite dose reduction or is accompanied by increased bilirubin, PEGASYS therapy should be discontinued.
No mystery at all it is one of the known side effects of Interferon therapy

Hi Rangle, I too am of the wicked wicked ways club. Now, I'm a cootie pal. I know I damaged my liver via alcohol consumption. I'm still wondering how I got HCV. Re: HCV, I'm nearly over wondering where it came from, since the where, changes nothing about the what. I've got it, gotta deal with it, and any amount of speculation doesn't change a thang!! I too realize that the more I read here the more I realize how little I know. But, if I'm to take a proactive role in my tx, I'd better become a lot more learned, post haste. Hugs, Ant B
