Chuckling at fill-in Dr...

Last Thursday evening at 8:30 PM, I received a call from my Dr's office worriedly saying my labs were back, and I needed to come in as soon as possible! Hmmm... I found out it was from the fill-in Dr, and asked if it was because my HGB , HCT, and ANC were low...She says,"Yes, how did you know?" I rattled off my last #s and let her compare to them...stunned silence...As if a person couldn't possibly have #s like that and still be conscious..LOL I explained I was on chemo (hep TX) and this had been a norm for several weeks (obviously no chart reviewing happened) and, though a bit fatigued, I didn't really feel too bad...More silence...she says,"so you aren't going to make an appointment?" I assured her I'd call my liver Dr on Monday...And, if she'd like, I could even have my GP let her know how I'm doing...
Shame on me for finding this amusing...I'll have to drop her a little card, just because she cared enough to be concerned and call so late...We need more like her in the world...:) (also makes one realize how "out of the norm" our labs are compared to the general population...! Freakazoids we are!!!LOL)                  ~melinda

LOL, Thank you for sharing, that IS funny!!!
Melissa, NP @ GI/Hepat. ofc. was delighted to tell me that my VL (pre Tx), had been a baseline of 4,100,000, and then ANOTHER, Baseline BT, depicted that my VL had dropped to 3,150,000.  She gave me a smile and an elbow nudge, an said, "Must be that placebo effect, eh?", What's not to love about a health care professional with a sense of humor?  Lotza Hugs, Grandma Bevy

My #1 GP has the best sense of humor and we both get the giggles all the time. It is great. My Liver Guru tries to have a sense of humor but fails miserably - but I may be biased???

My Gurus nurse ran a long list of blood work the first time I saw here and I got a call around 8.30pm that evening... I was shocked that she would call to tell me the results. I do love her!
