I tuned into the kitchen radio today while I was making (more of ) JD's truffles and a most wonderful Swedish Christmas music program was playing. It was so miraculous to me, since I was making a divine sauce (all right, a chocolate divine sauce) and was able to hear the conductor introduce his selection in Swedish and then hear the chorals in Swedish.
I didn't understand a single word and somehow appreciated you even more for communicating with us, the people who love you, in English.
Merry Christmas.

"BTW that Nazi he really turned out to be a real "soap" so Elaine and the gang didn´t care to eat his "soup" in the end if I remember correct."
To refresh your memory: Elaine found all of the Nazi's soup recipes in a piece of furniture and threatened to make them public. Then the Soup Nazi stopped selling soup and I think he closed his shop.
I think that's the story.
Mike
ca - lol lol lol!!!!
Gonna remmbr ta chck my spellng snce we'v gots spllng nazis - ;)
glad you're done with tx and hope you're feeling better and better!!!
thx for correction I´m still under the influence of meds my spelling and english has been worse than in a long time lately but you know I´m just that swedish chef in the muppet show LOL.
BTW that Nazi he really turned out to be a real "soap" so Elaine and the gang didn´t care to eat his "soup" in the end if I remember correct.
So it might not be totally incorrect to call such soup no matter how delicato for soap.
ca
I haven't read all of the post so someone may have pointed this out already.
If not I thought you'd want to know - it's SOUP Nazi and not SOAP Nazi
I don't know anyone who cooks or eats soap.
I love that episode by the way.
Mike
My dad would come home from work, take a shower and then we'd all sit down while my mom proudly brought out her dishes, one after the other. Every night. My dad would get so excited. Yup, no written recipes, all by eye and taste.
I broke ranks with her for many years after I left home and explored cookbooks and measuring spoons and cups. Now I'm like her, except for my baking.
Same here Jenn, food dinner was family time, coming to eat at your home!
I was raised in the old fashioned Italian family. I watched my Grandmothers cook since I could remember. They were both from different parts of Italy, so there cooking was of different styles. But I saw at a very young age all the *LOVE* that went into the sauces and baking. I can smell it all now thinking about it. I agree that there is no recipe when cooking. Neither Grandma ever measured ANYTHING!! So I kind of took a little bit of ones style, and a little bit of the others style, and made my own recipes for homemade Italian sauces. Baking just isn't for me. I do not have the patience. lol
I just had to jump in the topic of food, and have to admit it was nice to read, instead of a post about the Hep C I mean I know that is what this is for, but I thank comeagain for sharing a topic that caused so many good memories and happy thoughts for everyone
= ))))
Also I just had scallops (bay, the baby ones) I baked them with butter, garlic, herbs, parmesan cheese, and bread crumbs.........Just a lil of this and a lil of that. No recipe, and I am stuffed and smiling!! YUMMMyyyyyyy
last of all my cat Charlie likes to sit on the counter and watch me, and I think he is having a conversation with me thru his eyes. My dogs, well their a pain in the a$$ they just pace under my feet, trip me, and hope for falling food...........Hope this finds everyone well, Peace and God Bless
Jenn
My cat sings too! mreeoow feed me tooo. mreeoooow! feed me too!
One of my favorite memories of my mom, was her singing in the kitchen, to Bing, nat, Dean
So many good memories, of family and food!
Food + music + loved ones, a recipe for joy. I sing while I cook, and Richard (my lovebird) sings along. He likes to sample my cooking and makes tweet tweet sounds until I share the meal with him. If I am too slow the tweet tweet becomes squawk squawk!
Yes its the thinking that destroys the cooking maybe that is the fifth dimension where you don´t hafe to think in an insecure way , and as jd pointed out can let the magic happen.
There is probably many ways to the fifth dimension, but the one some of you so heartfully has described trusting your near and dears love and trust in you, was something of the most beautiful I ever heard.
Once again thx for sharing good people.

so well said! Oh geesh your daughter is adorable, I get calls from mine now, mama? this or that, thanksgiving my DIL was the same is this right?
I bet you cried when she said that!
DEAR CA-
Please send me some right now. I'm hungry and now you have me thinking about sauce. I'd love to have some, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
At thanksgiving I was standing ther worrying SO much about the gravy (my mom makes the best gravy in the world) and I was just freaking out. "Oh I hope it comes out like grandmas" over and over to my daughter.
She finally looked up at me and said "but mom you're my MOTHER don't you understand - YOUR cooking to me is the best in the world, not YOUR mothers" and I looked at her and said "huh!" like it was some giant revelation, stopped worrying and made the best gravy I ever made before in my life.
Italian chicks...........we worry endlessly about competing back in history with our grandmothers I guess but it's all a waste of time because as long as your kid is happy - you don't have to cook like Emeril you just have to make it the way that they LIKE.
Took SO much pressure off me from now on :) and who needs more pressure!
Food for my family is a joy, brings us all around the table, it is always fun, no not that way, learn. I think for many families mine especially is a chance to be together For most of my culture it can last hours, each course on a different plate, a taste of this or that.
Food and music brings food together!
My father cooks for everyone...and I mean everyone...my mother says that is how he shows his love for others...I think we (all his kids) do the same...
