The above are sites furnished by Pooh (1st 2) and Hector (last 1) back in, I think, May 2013. I haven't found any more current yet.
Anyway, my understanding is that the liver can regenerate, slowly, once the virus is stopped. However, there are other problems which can slow that regeneration, or cause damage, so I would suggest, no alcohol, continuing to eat a liver friendly diet, and. exercise comminserate with your age and physical condition. (I walk, not as much as others but more than I ever have).
BTW, congratulations on the SVR!!
Pat
Hi Tom, first off congrats to you on your SVR always like to see those 3 letters!
I've been told by my Hepa that fibrosis doesn't repair itself, however any viable tissue WIIL in fact regenerate itself..
Take care and peace to you
Deb
Sorry TeeTom but I just responded to your question under the post "Liver Regeneration". In that you mention only F3. Should you actually be F3/4, then my answer would be different. If you did have in fact Cirrhosis, you would need to follow up every 6 months with your Hepa to rule out Liver Cancer.
Unfortunately there is a big difference between the two. Hopefully you only have F3.
Take Care

Hey there Tom, great to see you again! Congrats on the SVR/cured. That is great news!
It all depends on how bad your liver was. Everyone is different.
It is possible for the status of the liver to improve. You should be going in at least once a year for US and blood work. with your hepatologist
Take Care
Dee
Hi there, no disrepect to anyone's post but I have 3-4 and my Hepa says there is no reason why your liver would not regenerate. If you had an AFP and the results were normal you have a minimal chance of a cancer scare.
So don't be scared and continue to be vigilant with your medical care.
Best of Luck
Deb
Hi folks, it's been over seven years and I'm still kickin. I feel good, eating good, sleeping good and all around good physically and mentally. Thanks be to God for rescuing me and allowing me to live a longer life. My treatment in case you don't know was Incivik (teleprivir), Ribovirin, and Interferon. I good no side effects and still clean. I wish all of you well....
Hey congrats TeeTom!
I had hep c for probably 37 years before I was finally cured back in 2015 with the new DAA medicines. I had treated 3 times with interferon but was a null responder so thankfully I was finally cured by the new generation meds.
