Need Help Understanding Lab Results - HSV Serology?

I was in a relationship for several months with a partner in which i was having unprotected sex. Closer to the end of the relationship i had noticed a lesion on my partner thigh, she had it cultured and results were positive for HSV2. I had ceased having any sexual contact with her since noticing the lesion.
Three months later i started to have prodromal genital pain symptoms that were fleeting, no lesions, waited 2 weeks and then noticed two domed like lesions that may have ingrown hairs? still knowing that i easily could be infected i finally went in to the MD....
He looked at the lesions and said if anything its folliculitis.....and i demanded the culture and serology to be taken.

Serology Blood Work:

Herpes Simplex Virus IgG EIA......Non-Reactive.

Herpes Simplex Virus Interpretation.......No Herpes Simplex Virus IgG antibodies detected.

Serology tested completed after atleast 3-4 months from last possible any contact of virus. Unprotected sex with partner that tested positive from viral culture.
I had a negative viral HSV isolated, this swab the MD did want to even do, he diagnosed folliculitis....

Please what does all this mean?

I would believe the double negative test, even though it was not type specific.  We worry much more about positive non-type specific tests.

now the serology test that i had was 3-4 months after possible contact.... serology test taken was not specific to HSV1/HSV2 however if its negative doesnt that mean that i neither HSV1 or 2.

was the right serology test performed? reliable?

Terri, i trying to be as safe as i can but not to have contracted the virus with the amount of unprotected contact and especially without any suppression therapy taken by former partner....i cant stop worrying about

thank you for your response Terri, much appreciated

Your herpes antibody test and swab tests were negative, per your post.  You waited long enough from possible sexual exposure to testing.  If you were my patient, I would tell you to take herpes worries off your plate and not retest.  I would also strongly suggest that this partner be tested for herpes so you don't find yourself in a similar position.

I am now in the early stages of a new relationship. It has been now been ten months since the serology/swab with those results listed above. I'm in mental anguish here because i really dont want to tell this new partner that i may have come into contact with this if a dont have to. If i was positive that i was infected, i definitely would discuss it with her.
Do i need to have another serology test performed?
