HSV2 Exposed & Worry

I (male) engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse just over a month ago with a female. Around 2 weeks later she had gone to the doctor for discomfort she was having (a common yeast infection). Informed me that she tested +GHSV2 [mentioned dr told her she got it within last three months]. Later into week 2 I began feeling symptoms of sickness, loss of appetite, soreness in back, slight discomfort/more frequent urinating, all symptoms to prove quite ominous fact. Alongside all of this was the immense stress level of course. Then the scouring of the internet only added to my stress levels. Like many, I was checking my genital region ALL the time. At 3 weeks after exposure, still early i know, I did an 8 panel std test (chl, gonn, hiv, syph) and all negative including a capita igg hsv 1/2 >am i the unlucky ~4% exposed w/o symptoms present and was infected
>>i read symptoms of hiv and they are so vague makes me consider i have that
>>just really needing the bottomline but wouldnt hurt if consisted of positive words hah

Thank you for all that you guys do to help everyone in stressful and rebuilding times.

Urinary tract infections in men are really unusual.  Acquiring an STD that causes urethral symptoms is more common.  But you were tested for those things, so I'm not worried about that for you.

Thank you, Terri. I suppose I found it too obvious after feeling those ways to think I avoided infection. Could I also be experiencing sort of urinary tract infection with slight sensation at tip of glans and slight tightness (cramplike) that seems to wrap around to lower-right back (kidney maybe). Just stressing a lot over situation. I will retest next week (6weeks)

Well, let's assume that she just got herpes, as her doctor said, and it wasn't from you.  She could certainly  be infectious, but the chances of you acquiring HSV 2 from one intercourse is really small, even if she just got it  herself.  And frankly, I'm not sure what she  or the doctor are basing that on.  The 4% is acquisition from male to female in a year, having sex twice a week.  That's not you, but if you divide 4% by 104 intercourses, that's your percent of getting infected at one encounter.  Pretty darn small, right?  Of course, we are trying to apply statistics to a pretty general population, so we aren't totally exact, but still, you get the picture.

Look for sores and blisters and retest.  If you are still negative at 6 weeks, then you will stay that way with 70% certainty.

Does that help?

Also, after rereading I left out a few points. I have yet to see anything that significantly resembles typical pusfilled sores or vesicles in the genital region. Are these common in primary outbreaks? It is coming to week 5 and I plan on retesting at week 6-7 to ease the mind of whether i am developing antibodies or may be okay so far. Thanks again in advance!
