I'm so pleased for you, great news, and I'm glad you hung in there and did the appropriate follow up testing to get the clearest answer possible on your lab work. Its good for other posters to be able to read your story and know that the western blot can help sort out whacky or low positive ELISA tests.
Best to you and your partner.

Terri,
Thank you for your support!!! My girlfriend had an inner ear infection.
I just received my Western Blot test... negative for both!
Thanks again for all of the support you and your team have provided over the last year!
Without your knowledge and expertise I would of gone nuts with the anxiety.
I plan to stay active on this site and hope I can help others in my situation.
God bless,
Borat
Terri,
Thanks for answering my question I had about my girlfriend. It really helps to know you don't think she is having initial symptoms.
These last 3 weeks have been amazingly stressful and while Ive been waiting for my WB results, the replies from your staff have been very helpful.
I should have my results on Friday and won't post anymore unless something drastic changes.
Thanks again,
Borat
Thanks, Petal. I won't have anything to add until the western blot results come back.

Terri - so you don't have to spend too much time, this is redundant to the community and Dr. Handsfield posts

many responses by Grace as well.
Terri,
thank you for your reply. I bought you web book the other day and it's been a big help.
To answer your questions,
Unfortunately, there was no titer number with the test. All the previous tests where Herpeselect at 4,7,11,16 weeks and they where negative for HSV 1-2. This 1 year test was done at Brooks Military Hospital... My doc called to try and get a brand name and titer, and all he could find out was it is a immunoassay IgG test that was positive. It did say the results could be pos, neg or unequivacal, so Im assuming a number was used to determine it was positive, but they have no record of it.
Thanks to this site and your book I demanded a WB be done. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a lab that had the biokit test as that would of been a much quicker answer.
My docs don't think I have HSV in the absence of sores or true breakouts.... With the amount of anxiety Ive had with this, I'm sure CPPS is a factor regardless of whether I end up having HSV or not.
As for my girlfriend, unless she's lying about something (not likely), I'm the only sexual partner she's had for a long time and she's never had any symptoms that would make her think it was HSV.
I know the odds are in my favor,
1. No sores (except for a single red spot in urethral opening that may of been friction induced)
2. Constant discomfort (CPPS symptoms) that follows my anxiety level... I felt about 90% recovered after seeking PT for CPPS after the last negative result.. Now Im back to square one.
3. Negative for HSV -2 antibododies via herpeselect at 4,6,11,16 weeks despite being HSV-1 negative.
As for the WB test, I was initially told it would be a 2 week turn around. I called and they are now saying it will be next Friday.
I'll post my results here, hoping for a negative :)
thanks again,
Borat

HI Borat,
These do not sound like herpes symptoms in your partner, no.
You say an unknown test - do you know if there were numeric values associated with the test results? If yes, can you tell me what they are? And you had a western blot test ordered? Good job.
Has your current partner ever had a herpes antibody test? If not, is it possible you contracted HSV 2 from her during this time period?
