p.s. couldn't repost ..I just realized I deleted the images off my computer
Thank you Terri for your prompt replies.
It was the weekend so I went to a local walk in clinic.. At first I thought it might be a yeast infection so I treated it for that... when I realized it was not healing I went to the walk in clinic.
I am not sure the doctor was too well versed with the procedure
She Swabbed for bacterial infections.
The doctors best guess was herpes but she said they don't swab for herpes..
She gave a prescription for valtrex and said if it gets better in the next 2 days then it is likely herpes
The sores are pretty deep inside... would that rule out HSV1?
I am getting a check up tomorrow as my regular doctor was out of town.
is it possible to be anything else? (I reposted the image)
Much appreciated again for your prompt replies
They didn't swab test for herpes? May I ask why not? What did they swab for? Nine days may or may not be too late for testing. If the lesions look like they did in the picture when you went it, they may still test positive. What did the clinic think was wrong?
Terri
Sorry for the constant posts... but do you think 9 days is too long to get swabbed? It will be 10 days tomorrow
p.s. thanks in advance for your prompt reply
I have not have them swab tested. Lesion have been present for 9 days
I went to a walk in clinic yesterday and they swabbed but not for herpes..
Is it possible to be HSV1 Or is it more likely to be HSV2
My partner has never had any visible signs of hsv 2 .. including the time we had unprotected sex
These sores are very consistent with herpes. Have you seen a health care provider to have these lesions swab tested? How long have the lesions been present? The longer you wait to be seen, the more advanced these will potentially get. Also, the longer you wait to be seen, the less likely the health care provider will be to get an accurate swab test and accurate typing of the virus. In addition, you likely need to get started on antiviral therapy to have it have the maximum effect.
Have you spoken with your sex partner about this issue yet?
I would strongly suggest that you be seen ASAP and when the swab testing is done (and insist on this with typing - HSV 1 or HSV 2). When the swab testing is done, be certain to ask for PCR swabbing not culture, far more sensitive. NOT PCR from blood, that is an error.
