Confusing symptoms please help.

Hello, I need help. It has been about 10 weeks since i last had intercourse, I am a male and this was with a female. She was also a sex worker. I used protection for the vaginal intercourse but not for the oral. I have had no symptoms of anything tell about 6 weeks after this incident. I developed somewhat of a red irritated scrotum. This has been on and of for about the past 4 weeks but im thinking it is just jock itch from working out. However about 1 week ago i noticed a red bump in my pelvic region in my pubic hair. It has a small hair coming out of it. About 3 days ago i popped it , no puss came out that i could tell but some blood did. Anyway it scabed over and now the scab is gone but the bump is still there with the hair coming out of it. I normally would think nothing of it but just yesterday some more red spots appeared around the bump. they are not raised like the bump but they are very small red spots almost like a rash. There has been no pain or irritation in that area ether. I am not sure what to do. I have been paying close atention to my genitals ever since this happend and have had no signs tell now.I may just be stressing and noticing every little thing.Could this be hsv, or scabies maybe? Is it unusuall to have my first outbreak this long after exposure? And in this location? From what i have read most outbreaks occur on the shaft or head of the penis.

I plan on seeing my health care provider but i am currently out of the country and I wont be back for a few weeks.
I just wanted to get an opinion from a professional because i am a little nervous. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I prefer to test at 16 weeks, but if you are negative for both HSV 1 and 2 at this point, I would say that chances of you becoming seropositive at this point is very small.  Glad the antifungal cream is helping the scrotum clear up.

Hi Terri

I just got tested and I was negative for everything including hsv 1 & 2. I got the 8 panel test done through labcorp. However I was a few days of from the exact 12 week mark.
Given that I have no obvious symptoms of hsv
And also the negative test result would you recommend that I need further testing?
Also the irritation on my scrotum is still there but I bought some over the counter jock itch spray and it seems to be clearing up.

Thanks Glen

I think the contact was low risk but not completely risk free.  However, since your antibody test was negative for both HSV 1 and HSV 2, you would be more likely to display symptoms that you would recognize if you did become infected, more so than if you had been HSV 1 positive already and had newly acquired HSV 2.

Hope this helps, and wherever you are, thank you for what you are doing and be safe out there.

Thank you for the response Terri.

Well first of all i am in the military so. They wont test me unless i show clear and obvious symptoms. And I also don't trust these doctors to give me a proper diagnosis. Yes i did try over the counter antifungal and it did not seem to help any. Gold Bond however did help some. Like i said though Im nor really worried about my scrotum because it has been on and off now and is not really consistant with herpes.

Yes i did get a full std panel back in June of 2010 through LabCorp. It was type specific Igg and i tested negative for both hsv 1 and 2.

Do you think that i could of contracted something from this one time sexual encounter? I plan on geting tested by at the 12 week mark just to be safe.

These symptoms don't really sound like herpes or scabies to me.  Perhaps folliculitis?  I would think that regardless of where you are in the world, there would be some health care available for an accurate diagnosis when the bumps are present.  If you wait until you get home to have them checked, it would be as accurate.  An irritated red scrotum sounds much more like jock itch as you think.  Have you tried an over the counter antifungal medicine?  I'm sorry I can't help you more with what this may or may not be, but nothing really worries me in terms of herpes.  Have you ever had a test for herpes in the past?
