please help me im really scared.

Hello and thank you for reading this and helping me.

I a 24 year male and I recently had my first sexual encounter with a person with an unknown herpes status. The next day I noticed something on my groin which my Doctor diagnosed as folliculitis and prescribed me staphylex. I trust the doctors opinion 100% on the folliculitis and he explained it was an infection of the hair follicles hence the anti-biotics he prescribed. Ive become increasingly worried that I have contracted HSV-2 herpes and ive been (to my embarrassment) checking myself and my penis. I have noticed spots that resemble pearly penile papules on my penis but recently i also noticed 2 red spots on the veins of my penis.

my questions are

1. Do I need to worry about the red spots on my penis or could it be a result from constantly checking (again im very embarrassed about that).
2. Do you recommend that I get an STD test. It has only been 2 days since the encounter. Am I getting ahead of myself and being a bit of a hypochondriac

Your comment will be tremendously appreciated as this has been driving me crazy for the past few days and ive also been losing sleep over this.

You are letting anxiety get the better of you.
If you are having urinary frequency, which you are describing, you might want to talk to your clinician about any prostate issues that might be coming up.

This is my last post on this thread.

Hey Terri

Im a little worried about something again.

Lately ive been feeling pressure around the area of the head of my penis. When i go to the toilet i havent been urinating as much as what i used to although ive been going to the toilet at a regular amount of times that i used to. Theres no burning sensation during urinating at all.

So what i am curious about is.....is it possible that i could have a herpes legion developing inside the uretha that can cause problems similar to the ones i have explained to you?

Am i letting anxiety get the better of me again? Your advice is always appreciated.

Thank you

I think if you don't have any symptoms consistent with herpes (blisters, open sores, etc) that you need to go to the doctor at all.

Hi Terri

Thank you again for a swift reply.

I went for an STD test at a local clinic today but they do not test for herpes unless you show symptoms. I show the doctor the area of my penis that i was worried about and she explained to me that it was probably just a nick or it was part of the skin folds of the person and that it doesnt resemble herpes. This gave me a really reassuring feeling but im still worried about the HSV-2 virus slightly. Do you think i should wait a while and then go for a private doctor Herpes test since the exposure was only 4 days ago?

I will also let you know of the results of the STD test that was taken today when I get the results back in 1 week

So the odds are even lower if you used a condom, which you did!  Good for you, great decision.  Now I think it is time to relax some and unless you see blisters and sores in the genital area, I think you can take herpes off your worry list, if you possibly can.

Hi terri thank you for the reply

This was my first time sexual encounter. I lost my virginity to this person and we used a condom! oral sex and vaginal sex with a condom. As I said her herpes status was unknown and we did use a condom. Ive never contracted herpes before or cold sores of any sort as far as I aware but in the past I have had small white spots on my lips resembling pimples but im not too sure if you would consider them cold sores. I havent had a herpes test in the past

Yes, I  think you are getting a bit carried away here.  Take a deep breath and step back from this emotional ledge.

It is not uncommon for people to check their genital area for any possible symptoms after a sexual encounter with a person they don't now well.

Nothing you have said, however, sounds anything like herpes to me in your situation.  You don't mention - have you had sex with other people in your lifetime?  If yes, how many sex partners have had in your lifetime? Have you ever had a herpes test in the past?

Thanks for answering my questions.
