Character limits?

Any place to go on this site that tells you in advance what the character limits are on "notes", posts, journals, private messages, status, etc.
I have a very memorable post I'd like to type, but don't want to do it and then be cut off due to character limits?
I'd like to start in the correct place when I first start.

Hi there -

I believe it's 2000 characters for a post, no limit on private messages and journals.  Notes are much shorter, as are status comments, but I'm not sure of the exact count.  I will find out for you.

A note - some members will find it hard to read a really long post, even if it is a really great post.  It may be easier to break it up into shorter posts, and post it in a thread, with your second part being a reply to the first part, etc.
