Hi there -
We don't currently have a "Living with" community for spouses/partners/family members of someone with depression. It's an interesting idea.
Do you think this could work if we had a more general community for family members of someone with any mental illness, or not? We are open to ideas.
Thanks,
Emily
I think it would help to have a "Living with" community for specific types of mental illnesses, because there are definitely differences. Someone coping with a family member with bipolar or schizophrenia may deal with depression, but they're going to be dealing with the other symptoms specific to schizophrenia and bipolar, such as psychosis or the bouts of hypermania that come with these illnesses. So, having one that is specifically tailored to the different illnesses seems like it would be more helpful to me.
I agree that it would be better if the different "living with" disorders were separated.
yes it would be a good idea to have one as my partner has cronic depression, ocd, post drawmatic stress disorder, anxiety, and my daughter shows signs of basic autsum, depression, anxiety and dislexia (deep) also my son shows signs of ocd i think you could say im a busy bee..............to be able to list what symptoms on a day to day basis could help me know which one he is struggling with at that time of day and that way i know who to help him
Hi there -
Currently, it looks as if we are going to start with one community, and will expand it if needed. Keep the ideas coming, though. I think this is a great idea!
Kezza81 - please check out our OCD, autism, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, etc., communities in the meantime, if you haven't already. Our Child Behavior Community may be a good place to get advice, too. Hang in there! You certainly have a lot on your plate.
Thanks everyone!
Emily
Why not a community for caretakers? I think caretakers need a place to vent. It might be a good start.
