Thanks for all the comments and suggestions on a spell-checker. Since many browsers already offer this feature, we won't be adding it any time soon to MedHelp. In addition, if you're in need of a spell-checker for MedHelp, you probably would need it for other sites as well, and therefore a browser solution would be perfect for you. Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome (two really good browsers) both offer spell check while Internet Explorer does not. You can download Firefox and Chrome on their sites:
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/
Thanks,

No need for spell checker. I called out 2 ppl on the Depression Community for jumping on the case of first time posters for their use of txt'ing abbrv.'s in their posts.
Needless to say we exchanged a few barbs.
Most of us with half a brain can decipher an abbrv. or sp. mistake, and it's not a big deal. While there may be a few who get their panties in a twist about it, i think the spelling errors and chatty informal style make the conversations more real.
I for one am more interested in the issue than the "embroidery" of good grammar and spelling around it.
MH has been my lifeline since my heart attack 11mts ago, and this community (with its errant spellers) borders on being a panacea.
Wish you all well in the new year.
Cheers,
Toby
oh! and yeah Patti, I think we could pick her out of the crowd with just reading her non-sense c$rap.... ;)
yep, I use firefox too.... (of course, it has a red line under it.. hehehe). I am a terrible speller, grammar-er... language-er.... and everything ending with -er.... ;)
Xist! I cannot even speak my own first language anymore!.... I think the world should recognize 'spanglish' as a whole new language. ;) That's what's spoken in my house!
And don't be mad, but I'll move this over there. That's the best way to get it seen.
LOL!
I've suggested it too in the past. They suggested using firefox as well. If I just knew what or how to use whatever that is, I'd be all set.
Wait, I thought they did add spell check? I get a red line under my misspelled words and it lets you right click on it to correct it. This is new, because I just noticed it and believe me, I am not a perfect speller, so I would have noticed it along time ago.
I am using Firefox like Patty said, so maybe it only works on that one.

is the forum where you can post this question :)
Malissa, if you use Mozilla (firefox), it has a spell check with it.
I am with Vanessa lol. of course, you (V) and I know all of the wako's typos....lol
I agree...I don't want spell check...it would certainly find all of my MANY flaws...but I am sure that everyone can decipher (sp? LOL) through what I am trying to say!
lol....
I think that's a bad idea...
if they'd add spell check, we won't be able to figure out when the 'Wako' signs up again with a new nickname!... one of her tell tails is that she can't spell worth the s$%it!
;)
