Primary lymphodema

I have primary lymphodema in my lower right ankle area. Had it for 18 years and it hasn’t got any worse. I’ve had no medical treatment since hospital diagnosis as was told nothing can be done. I self bandage once if twice a week. What’s the likelihood of it getting worse? Does anything in particular cause it to become worse?
