Hello,
A repeat test after 6 months may help in detecting whether you have cleared the virus or if the infection is persisting .You should be tested again for HBsAg, HBsAb and HBcAb to know the status of your disease and decide the management. Antiviral therapy is only indicated in people who are chronically infected and have persistently elevated SGPT which is a marker of liver damage, and HBV DNA levels. Routine follow ups are very essential along with regular blood monitoring to see if the virus is still active in your body and liver function tests to know how well your liver is working. Hepatitis B infection is spread through blood transfusion and sexual routes. Hepatitis B virus is not spread through food or water, sharing eating utensils, kissing, hugging, holding hands, sneezing or coughing. Most of the cases of hepatitis B cure spontaneously and may not require treatment. Consult a hepatologist and get your doubts clarified. Keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!
