12 YEARS WITH CHRONIC MIGRAINES

I was diagnosed with chronic migraines at the age of six after going through many different tests because doctors did not think a six year old can have so many migraines, but nothing was found. I've lived with this condition now for 12 years now getting an average of 3-4 migraines a week. I have tried EVERYTHING, including alternative medicine. I tried preventative medicine as well as changing my diet, making sure I get enough sleep as well as not too much sleep, but absolutely nothing seems to work. I've been taking 100mg of Imitrex now, but it wastes so quickly and my insurance can only cover so much.. (plus i don't think that taking so much imitrex is very healthy) This is really taking over my life because I always have to change my plans, miss out on work, and miss out on school. Does anyone have ANY suggestions that I may try to help my migraine headaches?

Reflexology and accupunture.I do both and since I started my migraines have decreased immensely.I've had migraines for 15 years.I've posted a few times on this forum.Just look for my name and read through.

I'm sorry to hear they didn't help.I do take Imitrex for migraines and also for the really, really, bad ones I take Fiornal w/Codeine.I also see a chiropractor for when my neck is out.I have several triggers for my migraines and most of the time I can figure out which treatment is going to work.I do accupuncture every 2 to 3 weeks and reflexology for stress which I have alot of.Sometimes I lay a rice bag over my eyes and sometimes an ice pack to the back of my head.I have my son do pressure points for me and I use a TENS machine also. You have my utmost sympathy because they do control your life. Not many people understand that.

I too am a chronic sufferer and have tried everything. I put a post on here the other day as I've found it does a help a little. My dentist has made a gum guard for me as unbeknown to me I grind my teeth which puts a lot of tension in the nerves in the head. I wear it every night when I go to bed and it has certainly helped in the fact that I don't wake up with a migraine. I hope this is of some help. You have my utmost sympathy.
