It sounds like the hospital did a terrible thing and it sounds like you have proof from your discharge papers.

However, I think that you may be confused about thinking that you have a life span of 40 days.  I found the following, " These symptoms can last anywhere from eight hours to forty days."  and "When recognized early NMS can be successfully managed, however up to 10% of cases can be fatal."  Certainly it is very serious, but I think that the information above may give you some comfort to not think that you are about to die.

So sorry to hear about your pain and suffering. If you have proof, you may think about going after the hospital.  Hope that you feel better soon.

Hi Sara. NMS is a life threatenning neurological disorder, most often caused by an adverse reaction to neuroleptic, or antipsychotic drugs. I was getting cluster headaches, & the E-R, iunjected some antispychotic drugs, mixed with predizone(which is a deadly combination?) Anyway the cluster headaches got much worse. I think typical lifespan is 30-40 days? Usally the doctors would take you off of this type of medication, but i went to a different hosp., & they gave me more of this type of medication. Symptoms usually start out like distonia, unstable blood presure, & mental agistation, delierium, &, or coma. I was getting worse cluster headaches ever, & 2 times i woke up with them, & blood was coming out of my eye, & nose, with worse possible pain ever! I think, now, that they were brain anorismes?, cas today, is day 40, & i ended up with cateracts, & pee problems. If later, usually life span is half a year. I was perfectly healthy before all this happenned to me. I think only treatment is steroids, & diazapam, but not sure. Hospital is dening they gave me the medicine, but i have the discharch papers. It is something you definately do not want! It is such a painful, way to die! I hopefully dont have it, but i never complain about anything, & have to much to live for as for money, but my desire is to give up. I can only sleep, but then, i cant get up, after 8 hours, cas my back locks up(something from long time ago, when i broke my back) Anyway, all you need to do is look up, NMS, & it will tell you better what the disease is. Thanks, Steve
