Status migrainosus during pregnancy

Need advice - 14 weeks pregnant, 85 hours of migraine headaches, vomiting offers no pain relief, dizzy, weak, body aches all over... I slept average 4hrs per day since pain started, Tylenol every 4 hours, ... Still cannot break the pain.

I never had an attack this severe for this long. I took Maxalt before pregnancy but heard triptans are unsafe during pregnancy.

My OB was not responding to my online messages and insisted me to call clinic.  I'm on holiday vacation, staying in a mountain lodge w/ no cellular coverage, only WiFi connection.  My head is spinning and exploding as I'm typing this, and body is shaking from time to time... Desperately need relief fast. Please help!!!

Thank you for the reply! Excedrin never worked for me. That's why I had to get Maxalt for migraine before pregnancy.

My OB called back and wanted me to get evaluated at the nearest ER. I got an emergency chiropractic adjustment and massage/bodywork appointment a few hours ago. They used on me lots of mineral oil and fed me lots of electrolyte water to rehydrate my body. The body aches and numbness have relieved a lot. Headache and nausea still the same, but not as sensitive to lights and movements now. The shakiness and dizziness are much better too - I guess I was very dehydrated from being sick for so long.

Just took some Norco and going to bed early at 7pm, hope to sleep better tonight. I promise my OB if the pain still wakes me up tonight, I'm gonna head to ER.  Will follow up w/ my OB next week to see how she wants me to handle this should the attack gets worse or recur soon. I'm thinking about getting a trigger point injection or occipital nerve block, which to me is much safer than the drugs (morphine, steroids, etc.) the doctors give in ER.

Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community.

Excedrin is much better than plain Tylenol. Excedrin has Tylenol, Aspirin and Caffeine. It is an excellent combination for migraines. And for the dizziness and nausea....this is going to sound crazy but I swear it works....Meclizine. You can take one 3 times daily. And it is OTC but you have to get at a pharmacy
I have never been pregnant so, I cannot say those meds are safe...but, you don't have to wait for your OB to call back....any Pharmacist will be able to tell you!
Other non-medical options are.....ice or heat pack, whichever is more comfy for you. Use a bandanna or cloth headband and wear around your head. You can also put Mentholatum on your forehead and temples....it can be done with or without the head wrap, depending on if you like the heat...I personally do.

I hope you feel better soon. Please keep us updated.
