Violent Burning In Head?

I have been experiencing violent burning in my head. I am a 17 year old girl. I really hope someone can help me with this because it is taking over my life already and it has only been three weeks. I am now afraid to leave my house at all because I don't know if I'll have a burning attack or not. I'm normally a very social person. I have been experiencing anxiety and depression because of this and I would really like to find out what this is.

On December 10th I was sitting in my friends car around nine thirty p.m. and I began to experience an excruciating burning sensation in my head. It felt as if my brain was going to explode, like somebody shot me in the head. The burning seemed to start at the outside of my head and it felt like it was drilling in. When it got to the middle, that's when it was unbearable and I would scream. It was the worst thing I have ever felt in my entire life. I didn't call the cops because I could not think and I was panicing. I went home and I took asprin and tylenol and sat in my living room drinking hot water for about an hour. It began to get better slowly but not completely. I went and laid down in my room and the burning attacks still happened but less frequently. The next couple days I had a constant headache that didn't go away. I went to the emergency room two days later and spent 7 HOURS there. They did a CT scan and they said that everything looked normal. They prescribed me Lortab for the pain.

On December 14th, I went to the family doctor at the hospital. She prescribed me Naproxen and muscle relaxers. These helped get rid of the headaches but the burning attacks still happened. That night I had another one. It was definitely not as bad as the 1rst time but still unbearable pain and burning that lasted an hour or so. On December 17th it happened again a little worse than the last time but not as bad as the 1rst time and it lasted longer. The Next day I went to the doctor again. She found out that I had an ear infection and gave me antibiotics for that. Then, for the next week I still had regular headaches/migraines but no burning until Christmas night. So December 25 it happened again. I would say that it was just as bad as the first time. We were far from home so I had to deal with it the whole car ride home and I was bawling. Btw I took a Lortab each time the burning happened, and I was taking my muscle relaxers and Naproxin but nothing helped. I had a doctors appointment on December 28th. She basically said that she has no idea what's going on but she took two viles of blood, prescribed me Gabapentin, and refered me to a neurologist. I am still waiting for the blood test results and I have an appointment with a neurologist on January 7th.

Since Christmas, I have had headaches/migraines and random burning throughout the day but it only last for about 1-5 minutes. I normally try to eat as healthy as possible and exercise regularly. With Christmas though, I have been eating a lot of bad food. I have not been able to exercise since these burning attacks started. I also smoke but I have cut down and I'm working on quiting as soon as possible. My symptoms include: violent burning pain in middle of head/right side of head the first three times, violent burning pain in middle of head/left back side of head the next time at Christmas (since then all of my headaches/burning have been in the left back side of head), cold chills, a bit of trouble speaking but that could be do to medication, minor runny nose, sore stomach to touch, kidneys hurt but that's probably due to medication, sore lower back, stiff neck, sensitive to light and sound, and trouble breathing.

I really hope somebody can help me. I'm terrified of what's going on.

you have to go back and keep bugging them. trust me i know it *****, im in the middle of trying to figure out what is going on with my body to. its frustrating to know how easy some doctors will push you aside because "nothing" showed up on one of the tests. but actually quite a few things may not show up depending on what test is preformed. DONT GIVE UP. if you have to get second and third opinions, DO IT. and dont wasted any time. do whatever you possibly can, even if you have to change doctors. i do a lot of research online as well, read into it. maybe you will find something very interesting that you can relay to ur doctor. hey it happened to me before. you know ur body better than anyone, remember that. I really hope you start feeling better soon, i cant imagine. im sorry

Yes I have been experiencing this too since Christmas.  I know exactly what you are talking about.  It feel like your head will explode from the pressure inside and it is like stabbing pains especially in the front area of the head.  I have had this really bad since around Christmas and also feel so depressed and not wanting to even go outside.  It is almost like the pain is annoying me so bad that I cannot even handle seeing people or talking to people.  I also get very moody and aggrevated.  I even cannot stand to be around people at all.

I have it now milder today but it comes and goes all day.  Yesturday I took 6 tablets just to get it a little more settled.  Do you also have pains in the chest like a great pressure.  I am also so tired.  It is not migraines, that I know because I have never suffered such things.  Also for the fact that I feel the pain also in the neck and chest.  It is almost like there is a great change in air pressure around.  I'm not sure but I hope it goes soon.

Stacey.

It sounds like migraines to me.  A neurologist is going to be your best bet to help you find an answer and treatment.
