I was just dignosed with a complicated migane 2 days ago. My doctor put me on a medicine called amitriptylin. Will this have any side affects with it or any other problems taking this medicine?

Hi,

One very important thing that you should keep in mind while taking amitrytyline is that you have to watch out for mood changes, impulsiveness, restlessness, hyperactivity, more depression and suicidal thoughts. Please contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
Take care!

That is an anti-depressant that has been found to be preventative for migraines.  Start this slowly, increase doses slowly, allowing your body to adjust.  I could not tolerate more than 25 mg of this.  Raising my dose had the evffects of a parkinson's patient on me (uncontrolled shakiness, especially with muscular exertion).

Take it at bedtime at first. Take doses regularly.  If it does not work for you, wean yourself off slowly.

Good luck
