I wasn't on any unusual (nondaily) meds at the time. However, I had been tentatively diagnosed w/ basilar migraine years ago, so that might make the most sense.
Thanks!
Tinnitus is a symptom of basilar migraine... and that sounds like it could be tinnitus. Tracy mentioned tinnitus too.
Also, could it have anything to do with medication at all? For my severe headaches I take strong pain killers, specifically opiates, and a larger than normal dose for me messes up my hearing so that it makes people sound like we're all under water, muffled, and my concentration goes in and out a bit. I'm not sure if our acute medications overlap other than the triptans, but I just thought I'd throw the suggestion out there just in case... even though it's more likely a tinnitus type thing.
Yes that does make sense. Check on vestibular syndrome......it says in a newsletter I have that you can have diminished eye focus, sound sensitivity and tinnitus, balance loss and altered cognition. Migraine Patho-physiology has been shown to be both vascular AND a neural process....This is from the www.vestivular.org society, summer 2006 article. There is a new book also, Auditory and Vestibular disorders, 2006, Mohamed Hamid MD.
Hope this helps, but I know it is frustrating but I believe it can be from migraine or similar disorder. I would mention it to your Dr next visit or call if it continues.
Hugs,
Tracy
