MRS - MR spetrocopy?

Hi there, could you tell me why my MS specialist is sending me for a MRS to look at the brain lesions?  She said it was to look at them further...I'm not yet Dx with anything, and been searching for a few years.  Also, when a Radiologist report states "Dawson fingers" and suspicious of demylination.  How could a MS Neuro just write it off as wrong, without even looking at the CD. She just said that hospital makes mistakes.....??

thanks for any answers...

Obviously I cannot comment on the neurologist's reading or interpretation of your scans -- perhaps they have dealt with the radiologist in the past.

MRS is used to look at the chemistry of lesions and to help us differentiate between cancer and demyelination etc. You obviously have a difficult diagnostic question and the neurologist seems to be ordering state-of-the-art studies.

MRS is also a newer technique gaining interest in MS for its possibilities in helping with the diagnosis and following of MS lesions.
