Persistent migraine aura...MS?

Hi!  I was excited to find you after googling "MS and migraine."  I was hoping to find a neurologist who specializes in both.

Since I was 11, I've been sluggish.  It was always as if the world was just too loud and I get worn out quickly.  I've had several episodes of loosing consciousness and was diagnosed an epileptic in my early 20's...eeg was normal however.  In 2004, after the birth of first child, I had a severe bout of postpartum thyroidits...thyroid storm followed by a diagnosis of hashimotos thyroiditis.  In Nov of 2006, I woke one day seeing trails behind moving objects.  In Feb of 2007, I suddenly developed intense pain in my eyes when exposed to any light...even a nightlight accompanied by a brain freeze type head ache above my brow (these eye/head symptoms have continued daily to varying degrees ever since.)  Since then, I have been collecting an odd assortment of symptoms including...tinnitus, sensitivity to sound, motion;  eye floaters, constant afterimages and increased trails (palinopsia);  muscle twitches and jerks; hand tremor, numbness, tingling and stiffness in hands and feet, clumsy fingers; bouts of dizziness and near loss of consciousness.  I am now a shut-in.

I've had an MRI showing UBOs, a normal LP, and normal blood work for ANAs.   My neuro came up with potential diagnosis of MS, hashimotos encephalopathy, epilepsy, and migraine.  I was treated for Lyme disease for 3 months with no result.  The neuro at migraine-aura.com thinks it's daily persistent migraine aura.  I was treated with 4 different migraine meds, with no improvement.

So...what I need now is a good neurologist who can handle this mixed bag of symptoms.  I'll be moving to Santa Cruz, CA soon, and would love to know if you know anyone good out there.  I will travel for the best.

Any thoughts?

Thank you!
Paula Murphy

p.s.  Feel free to check out my website palinopsia.com.  Especially the link to the yahoo groups and the "what I see" page.

They may be saying a:

1. Headache specialist; or an
2. MS specialist.

Or both.

I do not want to publicly write the doctor's name (without his permission), so I will email you separately.

I guess a more important question to ask first is.... what kind of specialist do I need?  All my doctors, including some neuros, send me away with the same advice..."You need to see a specialist."   IN WHAT?
