CSF Count

They said my spinal tap count was normal, except slighty high protein. BUT.... I got a copy of the report

CLYMPH  68%
CMONO 19%
CPOLY 13%
CRBC 117 / cu mm
CWBC 3 / cu mm
Clear, colorless
CGLUCO 65mg
CPROT 47mg

Any idea, why I have 13% poly? I though there should be none? Dosent this mean that soemthing is going on?
Also 117, on RBC, I though that should be 0 too?

All VDRL, afb culture, cryptococcal ag, gram stain, culture were all negative.

I am concered about the polymorphonucleocyte being 13% and the RBC being 117.

please advise

Maybe they missed something, or is this normal?

Dear Friend,
Many thanks for posting the question via my forum. Before answering, I would like to remind you that , my post is like a guide for you. But to come to a pinpoint diagnosis, I will repeatedly as you to visit the treating doctor or meet a good consultant.

Your observations are correct, however i have answers for your queries, if your treating doctor felt that the reports are normal.

1) why I have 13% poly? I though there should be none? Dosent this mean that soemthing is going on?

Answer -  If shown that there is some sort of inflammation going inside the body. However, it may be just fine as your treating doctor said that there is nothing to worry.

2) Also 117, on RBC, I though that should be 0 too?

Answer -  During the spinal tap, sometimes there occurs minor bleeding, due to which the blood gets mixed with your spinal fluid and due to the same, this value came.

Please understand that , since you are symptom free, the reports of VDRL, etc are all normal, and your treating doctor said that there is nothing to worry about, hence i have given this explanation.

Please feel free to discuss more with me as a fresh post.
Also , if you are satisfied with my answer, do refer your friends also.
