Brain Fog

16 years old, 123lbs, 5'6
Symptoms:
1) Constantly feeling as though I'm not present, like I'm dreaming or sleepwalking. Very surreal and frightening. This has been going on for over two years now, constantly.
2) Constant fatigue/exhausted. Malaise?
3) Sometimes a constant, but vague headache. Achy and pounding, slightly.
4) Sometimes I walk in zig zags
5) From peripheral vision I sometimes see different colors. I was looking at the whiteboard in class and my assignment was pink, for example. Not often.
6) Sometimes it's as if I'm looking into a petri dish under a microscope. Little moving things squirming around.
7) Depression, caused by the fog.
8) It's hard to focus. You know the weird VISION fog that happens when you zone out? Where things move around until you focus again? I'm always zoned out.
9) Head rushes
10) My ear will randomly mute and ring until it gradually comes back to full hearing capability.
11) I get random growths behind my ear, which I thought was from inflammation. I have one right now, though, I'm in remission, so it can't be inflammation.

The problem is, my symptoms are vague. The only thing that's constant is number one, except it can get worse, I don't know how. I just sink further into a trance.

What I've ruled out:

1) Crohns Disease (chronic inflammation of the digestive tract). My doctor told me that I'm in remission, but the fog is the same.
2) Anemia. My hemogloben is perfectly fine, it's at a 12
3) Thyroid (blood test)
4) Hyper/hypoglycemia (blood test)
5) Gluten intolerance
6) Lactose Intolerance
7) Scheduling (stress)
8) Certain medications: Prednisone, Cipro, Birth Control (Acne med), Entocort, Anti-depressant, Biologics
9) Depression - Anti-depressant did nothing
10) Malnutrition

Is this worth pursuing with a neurologist? Because my symptoms are vague and I'm not in pain, I'm not sure if an appointment would be worth it.

Do this exercise everyday, and you will gradually feel the brain clearing. The extra oxygen is helping the left and right brain to feel more active.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

I wish physicians could understand how devastating it feels to be told you need to see a counselor. BriP... do not give up. You know your body and YOU know when something isn't right. I was 4 years in therapy because my doctors didn't believe my Chiari Malformation 1 could possibly be symptomatic.
Yes indeed it was all in my head...LMAO!   Guess they finally figured out how true that was... had brain surgery last year.  DON"T GIVE UP and think it's all in your head if you know it's not hun :)

Thankyou, I'm just frustrated because even though it's been a while since I've felt "normal", I remember what it feels like, and that drives me to find out what's wrong. Thank you so much for your kind words, I hope you are doing well! Most helpful advice I've gotten :) Much appreciated.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear Friend,
There appears to be no neurological issues in this case.
Would request you to meet a good councilor, and then we can decide further.
Regards

Little history, I'm currently tapering off of Entocort (steroid), my last day is tomorrow. Also on Solodyn (antibiotic), Remicade (biologic), and probiotics/vitamins. Also receive allergy injections once a week.

The reason I suspect that my problem is not related to medications is because it began before I was diagnosed with Crohn's, therefore it was a problem before any of my meds.
