HELP My mothers hand stopped moving

Dear all,

About 1.5 year ago my mother started having problems with right hand. First she could not lift it above her head, then she could lift only till the middle and now only fingers work a bit. Moreover a couple of months ago she started experiencing similar problems with her right leg.
She made a usual Rentgen image of the spine, that showed everything OK with bones there. Then she made Magneto-resonance imaging of the brain which only showed some degeneration of a small part (they said that it is caused by aging (she is 67 now)). She took some medicine that should improve brain functioning. But we are still in search for the real reason.
Could you, please, help by telling what could be the cause and what should be investigated in more details
I would appreciate any suggestion.
best regards,
Oleg

Dear Doctor,

I have got MRI results of my mothers neck that show only changes caused by aging and a slight intrusion between C5 and C6.
May I ask you to have a look at the images of MRI of brain and neck? Maybe you will find something that may cause the hand problems. If yes, please, write to my email ***@**** and I will reply with images.
One more peculiarity: I have recently noticed that sometimes, mostly when my mother is a bit excited, the blood presure is higher on the sick hand (around 180/110)
Thanks for your help,
best
Oleg

Thanks a lot. We will do the MRI on 22.12 and hopefully on 25-26 we will get the report. I will write it to you then.
Thanks once more,

Dear Friend,
it would be perfect if you would type the MRI report (Cervical spine w ith full spine screening), once you take it.

Thanks a lot for your answer,
We actually have a neurologist who after looking at the Rentgen of spine sugested making MRI of the brain and now prescribed some medicine that really does not help. I was said that her spine is OK regarding disc, etc. She says she has no pain at all anywhere, in spine, head, hand or leg. We will make MRI of Cervical spine as you suggested, and probably will have to change the doctor. By the way, would it possible if you have a look at the MRI pictures when we have them?
Thanks again,
best regards,
Oleg

Dear Okusij,
Many thanks for allowing me to clear your doubts. You have mentioned as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) was done for the brain only.I would highly recommend you to do the MRI of the cervical spine with whole spine screening. For continuous loss of power in the upper limbs and now going to the lower limbs is a real concern.
We really need to rule out -
1) Spinal problems due to arthritis, disc, etc.
2) Demyelinating diseases like myelitis,MS,etc.
Also want to know, whether proper neurologists opinion was soughed or not at that time.As the treating doctor would be able to co-relate in the best possible manner, the signs and symptoms with the investigation findings.
I would again recommend you to opt for MRI Cervical spine with full spine screening at this moment.
Feel free to discuss more.
Regards
