9yr old girl presenting siezures

My 9 yr old daughter has started having siezures.  They appear to be a type of absence seizure. She'll be playing or studing and she "freezes" It's like something has caught her attention and she is focsing on it . She remains standing or sitting whatever postion she's in when it strikes. It lasts about 30sec to a min. She then comes to . She is  disoriented but not tired . She will then resume play or study as if nothing has occured. These siezures started 4-1 at 1st it happened once a week . After 5 weeks they stopped and she had another after her girlscout bridging ceremony and then went a month before she had another .Now she had one a week later. They are not occuring several times a day just once . She has been blood worked  eeg and mri .Everything is normal. She is being observed at school so we know that it it only happening the once a day when it does. It scares her teachers so they are very watchful. The dr we went to just wants to put her on Keppra. He wanted to start the keppra even before we had hte mri. I refuse to subject her to the meds available. Is this really as common as the epilespy sites suggest? Will she probalby grow out of it in a couple of years.? The only triggers i can see are stress from school testing and being in front of a crowd but I am told by dr that stress is not a trigger. Any help would be appricated!!!!!!

This is the 1st  that anyone has mentioned brain damage . Could you explain alittle.
Also my daughter was attacked and chocked at school last fall.Could this have anything to do with her being choked. She did have a bruised exchouphagas but she did not lose concienous. Any help is apperciated as the drs I have axcess to act like drug salesman and my prim. dr just shakes his head and says to do what the nice neurologist. says .
Also I noticed the siezures stay away when she is eating alot of fruit.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
The neurologist wants to  prescibe her anti seizure drugs as if it reoccurs it will cause more damage to her brain. So you have to discuss all the pros and cons near her treating doctor and as a parent take the best possible course. Avoid everything which you suspect might have triggered this seizure. Take care!
