Abnormal EMG- Muscle disease?

I recently had an EMG because of some muscle aches that have been an unexplainable and my CPK was a little elevated.  I am a weight lifter and my CPK was 212...but lifted a couple days before.  My doc re-oredered CPK and it was 313...again I lifted a day or two before.  So I took a week off of lifting and my CPK was 361.  However, I was rubbing on my calves fairly hard...especially my right calf because it was aching and I felt a knot in it.  A day or two later was when my blood was drawn and the CPK was at the 361 level.  It has been difficult to tell if it was rising or fluctuating due to lifting, etc.  My aldolase was normal at 6 and liver function tests are normal.  Sed rate is 2, CRP is .3.  I have been experiencing some dry eyes and mouth too since the winter, but all autoimmune tests are neg at this time.  I have been going through a lot of stress from health concerns and not sure if any of these symptoms are stress/anxiety related.

What has concerned me the most is my doc did order an EMG after my CPK was 361.  The morning of the EMG test i had a CPK drawn again and it was 137...I didn't lift for a week or irritate any muscles...this was good news.  However, my EMG was not normal.  THe NCS was normal but there were some abnomralities in 4 muscles on the needle portion.  I had a mixture of normal, short duration, low amplitude,. and polyphasic motor unit potentials.  The Phy Med doc that did the test said this is suggestive of a myopathic process.  He did say it was mild and may be benign and is recommending a muscle biopsy of my right tricep.

I'm really scared I have a muscle disease!  My physical exam and reflexes are normal and I can still lift and do yard work.  Yet, I feel a weird buzzy or tremoring feeling in my muscles sometimes after pushing them hard.  I can't say my strength is awful...of course I'm just not a strong as I was a few years ago but no dramatic changes recently...just weird pains too.  I don't know if some of these feelings are stress related because I do get some tingling in hands and fasciculations too but have been told these appear to be benign.

What does this sound like to a Neuro Doc?  One of the docs on this forum did give some thoughts but I have some additional comments that I have added.  I want to get as much info as possible.  I thought I heard somewhere that weight lifter can have abnormal EMGs but the doc that did mine said that isn't true.  Your thoughts?  Why are some muscles normal and others abnormal?  Could this be benign or is it the beginning of a disease process?

I'm away from my family for a month now for work training and just worried sick.  I am a 30 yr old white male w/ 2 young kids and just hope I can be around for them and be active as I've been my whole life.

THanks for any info and advice you can provide...

Kind Regards

In addition, can a virus cause EMG changes in the muscles.  I had a "possible" exposure to blood a few months ago and have been tested for HIV, Hep C- everything neg at 6 mos (is this 100% conclusive).  Yet, I got sick shortly after this exposure with a sore throat and was sick a lot more than often over the winter...not sure if it was just a bad winter or stress. etc.  ANyway, I haven't really felt the same since this time.

I believe my muscles did feel shakier at times when I lifted before this exposure every happened, but I know have dry eyes and mouth.  I just don't know if any of these dry symptoms are stress related or related to some disease process.

I worry I got some virus that is effecting my body.  Can you please give me some insight into this concern as well as my other concerns regarding my EMG findings.  I'm desperately trying to get the real specifics on what is causing my symptoms and abnormal EMG findings.  I just want to know the odds that my health is good vs. dealing with a muscles disease or autoimmune disease the rest of my life.

Also worth noting...the muscles that showed some abnomality on EMG ar triceps, gluteus medius, p. longus (calf), and supraspinatus (back area I think).  Other muscles in upper and lower ext seem normal.

I guess the main question is what would cause these abnormal findings?  Does it mean I definitely have a disease process?   Or can it be possible to have these abnormal findings and they are benign and never get worse...not develop into something more threatening or serious...

I suppose I have to take whatever life gives me but I am so worried and just need expert thoughts with clarification so I can better understand my EMG findings.

Thanks so much
