What is the cause of my pain??

I have had just excruiating pain in my inner right thigh into groin area.  It last for almost five minutes and leaves no after soreness, etc.  It is so painful that it makes me nauseous and nothing relives the pain.  I have to lay over the back of our sofa and just scream in agony until it subsides.  My husband tried to massage the pain as in a leg cramp but that does not even help.  I need to know what is causing pain.  I am a healthy active 68 year old female.

Thank you for your response. I will certainly being going to ER next time this happens. I will also see my physician prior to another occurance to have this checked out.

You need a trip to the ER the next time this happens for an in-person evaluation. The symptoms suggest inflamation of the femoral artery, but you really need an M.D. to take a look.
