Armpit/arm pain

A few years ago I was in a tug-o-war.  I was a body builder at the time and had very developed pectoral muscles.  After the tug-o-war, I noticed that it almost felt like my pecs were constantly pressing on my nerves under my arm, near my armpit, causing a shooting, burning, tingling pain down my arms.  The only thing that I noticed that helped it was if I stopped lifting weights.  Recently, I tried to start lifting again, which I love to do and the pain is back.  The lifting seems to irritate the nerve.  Is there any surgery that can fix this so I continue lifting weights?

The pain is uncontrollable if I lift the weights...if I do not, it is very managable.  I know a simple solution would be to not lift, but I really would like to continue lifting.  Could this be thoracic outlet syndrome?

Hi, it is important to investigate and diagnose the root cause of the problem. This kind of pain associated with tingling is usually due to nerve compression.Whether, nerve pinch is happening at the level of shoulder or cervical spine should be ruled out.

Only when accurate diagnosis has been established, treatment modalities will be worked out. Surgery is only indicated when pain is uncontrollable or nerve compression is causing muscle weakness.
