BackPain,Numbness,Leg Cramps,Tingle back of Head Down Neck

I am tired of not knowing!
I am a 33 yr old woman and my pain started in April 07. It started as a pain in my back. It would come and go. Then the pain just kept getting work and I went to a Orthapedic specialist and he gave me injections in my Trapezia Muscular group saying the muscle was tight around servies causing the pain. The pain by them was accompanied by now tingling. The injections did nothing for me.  I moved and stopped treatment and the pain just went away. It was gone about a month and started back. Only this time it didn't go away. It was not sharpe and the numbness was constent. the numbness did get worse with certain possitions that I help by head. I had my first MRI today no contrast and I hope for anwers but these Dr's don't give you a clue what there really looking for or what some cause could be. I noticed that I am haveing this tingling sensation in the back right of my head into my neck. I have tingling in my legs when I sleep at night however I am not sleeping anymore.  I have charlie horse cramps about twice a month and just started getting this really back joint pain in my left thumb. (what the heck)

This can't be happening to me. I was healthy and now I feel like I have just broke down and know one knows why. I am a gastric bypass patient so I worry about my B12 and am waiting on blood work. She is pretty much testing for everything. My Dr. told me I looked so tired. I have black circles under my eyes and I never did before. I know my co-workers think I am sick they comment daily how tired I look and ask me often if I am okay. I know I am looking more pale then I used to.

My strengh in my arms and hands are still strong. I had a dizzy spell this past July that took me to the hospital.  They ran tests and said I was fine and a little dehydrated.  I do suffer from Migraines and do have Auras but not in a long time. So when I started seeing spots I thought that is what it was. But then it was like I saw a really bright light in both my eyes and literally could seen anything and nearly fell out my chair at work. My co-worker came to my desk to check on me.

What is really going on!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Nat,

I have been experiencing some similar symptoms. I also wondered if you are under the care of a Licensed Massage Practitioner? You mentioned that your trapz were tight and the doc said that was the cause of your back pain. Muscle imbalance occurs when some of your muscles are tighter or looser than they should be. When this happens your skeletal structure becomes pulled out of place. This can cause unnecessary strain on joints and nerves causing inflammation and pain. There is also something called a trigger point, which occurs when a muscle is tight or overstretched. Pain from a trigger point travels along a referral pattern through nerves and fascia, causing the pain to be referred to a different area of your body. LMP's have many modalities they use that can manipulate underlying soft tissue (i.e. muscles, tendons, etc.). This is effective in "re-training" the soft tissue back to its neutral position (along with your part in stretching and exercises provided by your LMP.)  A typical schedule for an LMP (depending on the severity of your condition) will be 1-2 times a week for the first 6 weeks, then 1 time a month from there on out. Of course the more that you do for yourself (i.e., stretching, simple exercise and ice or heat contrast schedule), the faster your body will begin to recover. I don't know what state you live in...but I know that some states don't require Massage Therapists be licensed or educated. It is important that you find one that is and knows what they are doing.

Hi.

Pending the results of the MRI, it is possible that most of the symptoms (back pain, numbness, leg cramps, and tingling sensation) you are experiencing may be caused by a nerve impingement or compression at the spine due to disc herniation, vertebral malalignment, or degenerative disc disease. The dizziness and visual disturbances can probably be related to migraines.

I would advise you to wait for the MRI results for confirmation or ruling out of a spine condition associated with your symptoms.

Hope this helps.
