Buzzing & shooting pains

I have a Chiari 1 malformation and had surgery for it in 2009.  Although some symptoms resolved I still suffer from many.  Lately my neurosurgeon suggested I get checked by my neurologist for an autoimmune disorder could it be something else or just Chiari symptoms?
- shooting pains in calves and forearms
- buzzing/vibrating in hands
- memory loss, trouble finding words but no problems with numbers

Thank You!!

Thank You for your responses! I have already been tested for a B12 deficiency as well as Rh factor and TSH, they were all fine except the thyroid test which was low.  My neurologist preformed two different nerve and muscle tests and he said they were in the normal range - however the electric shocks during the test could be felt intensely on my otter leg and not at all on my inner leg in both tests so I suspect that the inner leg were in the low-normal range.  I have a follow up MRI that says I have  & cerebral lesion
I am not sure what that means exactly.  He has also chosen to MRI not only the brain and c-spine bRadiculopathyut also my L-spine.  Any thoughts on what he may be thinking??  I would really appreciate it - knowing he has an idea of what is wrong with me would really put me at ease!

Hi...many times there is residual symptoms post op.....

What the Dr suggests sounds like a good place to start...many times chiarians will have disk issues sooner in life than most.....and vitamin B 12 can also be an issue as well as vitamin D or low levels of magnesium or potassium....

Many chiarians also have auto immune issues as well...so a full check up is a good idea...I invite u to join the chiari forum here on MedHelp for support and share idea's etc.......  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Chiari-Malformation/show/257?camp=msc

Hi there, symptoms of Chari 1 malformation are coordination problems, difficulty walking steady, lack of fine motor skills and muscle weakness, numb extremities, dizziness, slurred speech and blurred vision. You may need to be investigated by a neurologist for a possible cervical intervertebral disc herniation or nerve entrapment. He might consider Lyme disease, B 12 deficiency etc.
These symptoms appear to be unrelated to chiari malformation. a detailed examination is warranted to diagnose the cause. Take care.
