C spine surgery

I was in auto accident 10 years ago. Things have steadily gone down hill since. In December, I fell on ice, and things got a whole lot worse. Had a recent MRI done on c-spine. Now Doc thinks it is time for surgery. Nerves are being pinched in c3 c4 c5 and c6. I have lots of pain in neck, head, upper back, and shoulders and arms. Now I am getting pains in my legs, and my big toes are going numb. Is this all related? What are the risks of not having surgery? Is there an alternative to surgery? I am so frightened. I don't want surgery, yet every day, I seem to be getting worse. Any advice or info would be so appreciated. Thanks for listening.

Hello I just went for Spine surgery on May 4, 2007, putting off for 6 years. Which lent me to a much longer surgery 7 hours long c1 thru c7 with titanium plate.

All I can say there are a lot of horror stories here maybe they can't find a good doctor and hospital, that is the hard work. the only pain I do have is a very sore throat that went away after 3 days after surgery like I said . But I am still  on very soft foods they more your espogus( might be missed spell) during the surgery my doctor earned all his money and so did the hospital don't put it off you will pay at the end if you  would like to email me you can ***@****

All of your neck, arm, shoulders symptoms can be directly caused by pinched nerves. Did your dr say anything abut a ruptured disc? What type of surgical repair is he talking about doing. You need more information. While surgery is a scary option, not doing surgery if nerves are affected can lead to permanent long term problems. I would see a neuro-surgeon if possibile. A good one will explore all of your options with you. Good luck.
