vein in head palpitating

Hi Im sorry I'm not sure where to put this question so please forgive me if it is in the wrong place . I am a 34 year old woman in ireland. A few weeks ago I suddenly got what I can only describe as small palpatations in the vein in the left side of my head more or less above my ear. It was there for a few days and went away. Its back again now for the last 4 days. On and off all day every day. I started getting heart palpitations around two years ago during my third pregnancy. Im not sure if this is related. It got it seen to as they got very bad but have improved a lot since then. I have learned to live with them. Went to the dr about this different one in my head and he said not to take any notice of it but its very frightening and I would like to find out what this is or if it is normal or common, or of course how to get rid of it..Thank you so much for your help in advance

Lisa

Thanks so much for your response. I dont have any other symptoms as such. Have suffered from some sort of vertigo or central imbalance for two years, this started not long before the heart palpatitations. I have seen specialists about them both and never got any proper diagnosis or answers about either. I simpy live with them. I was never sick or unwell in anyway other than colds and flus all my life so its weird having to live with two things that I never got any answers about but i get on with it. This palpitation in the vein in the side of my head has actually frignted me more then the other two ever did and I did not think that was possible. Its been going on for about a month but there was a two week break in between. So two weeks and now again. It goes on all day any night anything from a few seconds apart to ten minutes or more or even longer. The only other thing going on at the same time is clicking in my ears which i have had more or less for two years with the vertigo and pressure in my head on an off for the two years i have the vertigo too. I assume they are related to that and not this but of course I dont know. I have private health insurance and always have but unfortunatly the most of the doctors here just fob you off and never give you any answers . Sorry to go on but this thing is really scaring me for some reason. Thank you for your reply.

Hi,

You described the sensation as frightening can you elaborate further.

How often do you experience your condition?
Are there any associated symptoms like headaches, blurring of vision, scalp tenderness or ear tenderness?

What you may actually be feeling is an underlying muscle contraction called a fasciculation or muscle twitching in a localized area of the body.

I suggest you avoid unnecessary worrying. For your peace of mind you may consult a neurologist for a complete neurologic examination.

Good luck
