Child Has Headaches Trouble Breathing

My 4 year old has been having trouble breathing for a month.  He complains of headaches sometimes but the main symptom is his breathing
.....he just keeps taking a very deep breath, then stops breathing and follows with another deep breath. He has a hard time talking because he gets short of breath. None of the doctors he has seen thinks it is asthma or allergies.
He has seen a cardiologist and an ENT to no avail, their tests were normal. They have done X-rays, an EKG, and various blood testing but have come up with nothing. He is also type 1 diabetic and ketoacidosis is negative.

Forget web sites; you need to get your son to a hospital now.  I can't imagine his pediatrician just sending him home knowing the condition he is in.  I know my pediatrician would probably admit my child for testing to find a definite dx.  You can't mess around with children's illnesses and no doctor should let your child go home until he is properly dx'd.

My best to you............

Does anyone know of any other website forums I could post to? There has been no change in my son's condition. The dr tried singulair and claritin, but nothing is helping. He does not have any wheezing or cough, just the shortness of breath. I don't know if it is pulmonary, gastric, or neurologic problem. The dr will not refer him to another specialist and says to "ignore" that he has breathing difficulty!

Have you tried taking your child to an ASTHMA SPECIALIST who could maybe assess your son's lungs and see if they have asthma? Maybe there's some other underlying lung problem your son might have that needs to be checked out by a Pulmonary Physician. I took my daughter to a Pulmonologist who determined that my daughter had exercise induced asthma. She would be stricken whenever she was outside playing or on the playground at school. He also recommended that I have her join the city swim team because swimming is a great way to expand lung capacity because she had to hold her breath under water for periods of time.
Anyway, these are just thoughts...they could also do a skin allergy test. Maybe he has airborne allergies to something in your house or outside. Kids don't have to be doing an activity to have asthma/allergies.
