Hi,
How are you?
There can be many causes of choking, the most common being not chewing the food properly and eating big pieces of food quickly.
Other causes can be inhaled foreign body, epiglottitis, larngo-tracheitis, pneumothorax, collapsed lungs, pulmonary embolism, tracheo-oesophageal fistula, thyroid tumor and cyst.
Please get the child examined by a pediatrician as soon as possible. Take care!
Hi,
She do not choke on food just liquids: milk, water, tea. She chokes often on that, since she was born.
Thanks for your fast reply.
Hi,
Acid reflux can also cause choking in babies and young children. I would suggest you to get her evaluated by a gastroenterologist.
Take care!
I am 24 and have problems eating food since I was younger. At about 12 I was eating food really slow and not completing meals (I still do this today). I think mine started because of fear of choking.
I often choke on liquids and not food. Don't know why, have never thought about telling a doctor because that would be another problem to add to the list of problems I have with no cause.
My child got multiple motor problems in past few years, so I started to read a lot about, and stumble on dysphagia, so I wonder if those easily choking on liquids is another symptom. I'll check it with Dr.
Thanks,
And sorry for my poor English.
Hi . I choke on fluids to.A few years ago ,I had growths on my vocal cords which were removed but I still had the problem. One thing I have noticed is , it gets worse if I am anxious. Have no problem with food.Had it checked out in the last month with a specialist, and nothing wrong. I would get a dr to have a look but teenage years are hard ones! Good luck,Cath278
Lately I have been choking on liquids ,my own salvia , and my balance has been off .in the morning I drop pretty much everything I hold ! What could this be ?
