Chronic migraines and botox?

I've been suffering from a constant migraine for just about 6 months straight with no relief. I've been on all sorts of anti depressants, anti convulsants and onset meds such as Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax, etc. for years now. I've had nerve blocks for a while now... which only seemed to relieve the pain down to where I could at least function normally and not be in too much pain for about 3 hours to a few days. The pain feels like a brain freeze when you eat too much ice cream too fast at a lower intensity but at all times. I've been on natural supplements as well such as magnesium, butterbur, niacin, etc. with no relief as well. All my MRI/MRA's and CT scans come back mainly normal, as far as I have been told.

I go tomorrow for Botox injections in hope that there may be some relief with that.

Anyone else have experience with Botox? Did it help?

Botox did not help. Dental, TMJ, sinusitis has been ruled out. I see a therapist to help deal with my stress... as the only stress I have is due to being in so much pain for so long. It has gotten to the point where my face just hurts to do anything... even eat now (pain is only on right side of face). My neurologist has seemed to have given up on me and sent me to a pain clinic, where the most they can do is a Cervical Epidural to try and block all the nerves.

I'm wishing they could do a trigeminal ganglion block, as I have had limited success with the upper branch nerve block, but unless someone can inject lidocaine into my face multiple times a day, there's no relief...which makes me wish for a TN treatment beyond the meds I have already been on.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems.  Well, botox injections have been approved by FDA to treat chronic migraine not responding to any other therapy. So, yes, it is worth trying. However, the headaches may also be due to TMJ, dental caries, blocked ears, chronic sinusitis, high BP, or due to tension and stress. So,
please consult your doctor regarding these possibilities as well. Hope this helps. Take care!
