Colonscopy injury-severed nerves in spine

This is my diagnosis after EMG/Rectal /lower limb/ testing.  Chronic right pudendal nerve injury. Possible pathology involving S1-4 nerve roots given the H-reflex findings. The pudendal distal latencies are prolonged bilaterally, but to a greater degree on the left. Large motor units were seen in the right upper and lower quadrants of the sphincter. The right H reflex was prolonged with respect to the left.  Is it possible that an colonoscopy instrument can sever nerves in the rectum? Most consent forms only acknowledge perforations of bowels, kidneys or other organs. Doctors won't acknowledge that colonscopy caused these injuries that I have. I did not have these medical problems until after I had a colonscopy.  I am permanently disabled now. Thank you

I have neuropathy because of severed nerves in my rectum and under my spine. Some of the severed nerves affect the muscles in my lower limbs. I cannot walk without assistance of canes or walkers. My tailbone is dislocated, and I have constant tailbone pain 24 hours. I have  to use a rectal stimulator daily to have normal bowel movements. I have rectocele now, where my intestines are falling into my vagina. I do not have durablity in my legs, and have to stop and sit at times. My neurologist sent me back to physical therapy last week, because my legs no longer reflex or respond to the medical hammer. This is all from the result of the colonoscopy test on 03/31/2006. I had no disablities or health problems of these serious natures before 03/31/2006.  I use a heat pad everyday and night for comfort. You sound like you are having another problem, you should call your doctor right away. I hope he helps you, my neurologist is the only one who is treating me with care. My primarycare doctor is not treating me well, he is in a cover-up with the doctor who caused my injuries. I have to find another doctor, otherwise I am afraid to seek medical care again. Good Luck!

Hi, I'm wondering if the same thing happened to me. I was admitted to the hospital 24 hours after my colonoscopy, and the doctor said I was "nicked" during the procedure. I developed a massive infection but it went away with IV antibiotics for 4 days. However, since the procedure I have a BM within an hour after a meal, and immediately after I wake up in the morning. Sometimes I have to run to the bathroom immediately after eating.  I was wondering if it was nerve damamge like yours. What is your disability? Thanks!
