Constant nausea when rising from a supine position

Some time ago - approx. 3 years ago - I awakened very early one morning with extreme nausea. When I sat up I became violently ill. This did not go away for almost two months. I had to either remain in a sitting/standing position or a laying position at all times to avoid nausea. To transition for one to the other ALWAYS led to extreme nausea. I began sleeping in a sitting position each evening in order to avoid the sensation. During this period of two months +/- if at any time I tilted my head in any direction more that a few degrees from the upright position it resulted in violent nausea.
I hadn't experienced any recent head trauma or anything overt which I could associate with this behavior.
I never found out what this was however I would like to. Has any one ever heard of this or experienced it themselves?
Please respond to ***@**** with any information you might have.
Thanks..

Thank you for your reply. In answer to the concerns about anxiety, IBS, depression, chronic fatigue, etc., I do not believe either of these items were responsible, only because there has never been any relative symptoms indicative to either malady previous or post to the incident.
I have a pretty a good sense of balance before and after this incident, never a reoccurance of said symptoms, nothing happening at the time of the symptoms that I could point my finger to as causing the problem.
Are there any isolated items/causes which could mysteriously result in these symptoms to last for a couple of months and then just as mysteriously as they arose - go away never to reoccur? It is of some minor concern to me but more a curiosity at this juncture than any thing else.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.
Gregg

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
It is very difficult to give a straightforward answer to your question as your symptoms are a little unusual.
It is important to rule out causes like gastroenteritis, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, nervousness, morning sickness and Migraine.
Please get yourself evaluated by your family doctor as soon as possible.
Do keep us posted!
