Elevated CPK

I have been told that my CPK is elevated.  Is there something I can do to lower it?  I have been having problems with my legs, I walk for about two blocks and they start to feel very heavy and get hard like a rocks.  What is wrong with me what is going on with my body?

Have you had a muscle biopsy?  This is usually done when the CPK is elevated.  My friend was diagnosed with polymyositis as a result of  the biopsy results.

Hi, elevation of CPK is an indication of damage to muscle. It could be associated with injury, rhabdomyolysis, muscular dystrophy, myositis, malignant hyperthermia and neuroleptic malignant syndrome. I

It is also seen in hypothyroidism. The use of statin medications, which are commonly used to decrease serum cholesterol levels, may be associated with elevation of the CPK , although the incidence is around 1%.

Conditions like polymyositis is related with raised CPK. Please consult doctor for linking the disease and making proper diagnosis so that treatment could be started accordingly.
