Tingling, Numbness, Possible MS or ALS

Good Evening,
I have a couple of questiosns regarding the difference between MS AND ALS.
Since the mid 1990's I have had symptoms that led me to be tested for MS and ALS.
Primarily I had tingling and numbess on the left side of my body. I also had muscle twitches.
In 1996 I was told that I did not have MS or ALS but probably some virus. Now I have similar symptoms 16 years later.
My questions are, could this be relapsing MS?
Could it be ALS? I've read that ALS does not involve tingling or numbness, is that correct?
I also don' t feel weak. Does ALS relapse could I have been misdiagnosed in 1996 and my progression of ALS have been delayed.  I've basically have had little or no symptoms these past 16 years other than here and there and they were minor. They were primarily muscle twitches and I've read that twitches are a later stage after muscle weakness and wasting.
Recently it feels as if I have a lump in my throat but don't feel as if I have trouble swallowing. When does difficulting in swallowing occur with ALS?
Please help.

Sorry, I just saw you wrote about tingling and numbness on one side.  How long did that last?  Was it just the one episode?

I am not an expert, but I would not worry about ALS. Ususally, with ALS you only live about 5 years after dx.  I dont know all of your symptoms, but muscle twitches can be benign-many people have them and they are nothing to worry about, and they also can be a symptom of MS, but I am doubting that as well because you seem to have such little symptoms over so many years and men sometimes are worse off with MS then women.

I have had MS-like symptoms for 23 years.  I was tested for MS many years ago and then had MRI's done again 6 years ago.  They were clear both times, but I did not pursue a dx any further.  I do feel I have MS and I am taking a holistic approach to it with diet, exercise etc.

As for the lump in the throat, I have that when I am anxious.  Also, in MS trouble swallowing is a symptom but you say you do not have that.

What other symptoms do you have?  Try not to worry, I am positive you do not have ALS, and if you had MS, most likely you would have more symptoms by now.
