Lymph nodes or what?

What would be the cause of my lymph node behind my right ear to ache and make the side of my head tight and achy and my head a bit foggy.  This happens daily (has for months) and is accompanied by extreme fatigue. Any ideas?

Hi,

This could be mastoiditis, cervical lymphadenopathy or parotitis.

Have you seen an ENT specialist or your doctor for your symptoms? Do you have any associated symptoms of pain, discharge, fever, etc?

'Mastoiditis is an infection of the mastoid process, the portion of the temporal bone of the skull that is behind the ear. It is usually caused by untreated acute otitis media (middle ear infection) .'

You could read more about the condition at the following links -

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Post us about what your doctor advises.

Regards.

Hi Angie,
Swelling behind the right ear could be a lymph node or lipoma. Your symptomatologies along with the fact that you have earache with headache suggest some chronic infective pathology.
I think you need to consult a surgeon to do a FNAC and see what the enalergement of lymph node is due to.
Alternatively you can visit a physician primarily to assess the condition and decide further course of action.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
