Is it depression?

Somimes I feel so sad and lonely likea really sad feeling starts to rush through me to think about all my family problems, and when that happens for some reason i can't seem to able to go to sleep because all i think about are the issues that are going on in my life.
At times it even bothers me when people call me.

Hello,

Thank you for taking up some of your time to write back and let me know whats going on with me. Well I've been having these syptoms for like about a month and i think that the reason for it is becasue of my brothers death not too long ago he was murdured and his death really really got to me.

Hi,
    How are you? Depression can be of two types: endogenous and neurotic. Endogenous means that the depression comes from within the body, perhaps of genetic origin, or comes out of nowhere. Neurotic or reactive depression has a clear environmental precipitating factor, such as the death of a spouse, or other significant loss, such as the loss of a job.

If you have experienced five or more of these symptoms within the same two week period,especially if a depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure are among your symptoms, this could be indicative of an episode of depression. The symptoms should not be accounted for by another illness, drugs of abuse or prescription medications. The symptoms can be depressed mood, decreased interest or pleasure, weight changes, sleep disturbances, psychomotor agitation or retardation, feeling of worthlessness or guilt, fatigue, thoughts of death etc.

Since how long have been having these symptoms? Has there been any event, after which you developed these symptoms?I would suggest that you visit a psychiatrist, in this regard and take his advise.
